The Tire Rack Street Survival program is beyond invaluable. Since automobile accidents continue to be the number one cause of death and injuries amongst teens as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), teaching teen drivers how to safely navigate challenging and potentially dangerous driving conditions (like emergency avoidance maneuvers in the rain) is a necessity. Unfortunately, those skills are simply not taught in driver’s ed – but it is part of the hands-on curriculum during Tire Rack Street Survival schools. Thanks to Tire Rack, BMWCCA, PCA, and the Sports Car Club of America™, Street Survival schools regularly take place throughout the year, helping young drivers keep safe while behind the wheel. Recently, though, increased costs like venue rental, food, and more have left some event hosts with cost concerns. Fortunately, assistance is on the way – to the tune of $2,100.
Thanks to feedback from event hosts, the BMWCCA Foundation Board, that oversees the Street Survival program, have approved a student fee increase to $175 starting with the 2026 season. As a result, event hosts (like SCCA® Regions) will receive an additional $25 per student.
There’s more. Per a recent communication sent by Street Survival:
Starting now for 2026, any additional school that a current host completes in 2026 – above their 2025 total – will earn double the sponsorship reimbursement. That’s $2,100 for each extra school, compared to the standard $1,050.
Here’s how it works:
* If you hosted schools in 2025, every school you add in 2026 beyond that number qualifies for the double sponsorship reimbursement.
* If you did not host a school in 2025, your first school in 2026 will also qualify for the $2,100 reimbursement.

According to Tire Rack Street Survival, 2025 saw 73 schools completed, with 24 of those hosted by SCCA Regions.
“Nineteen SCCA Regions hosted Street Survival schools holding a total of 25 schools with great success,” says Linda Duncan, SCCA’s National Coordinator for Tire Rack Street Survival. “In fact, Philly Region, St. Louis Region, Oregon Region, and Reno Region have hosted schools for years with great success, educating local teens on how to stay safe as a new driver. Beyond that, Street Survival programs can also help Regions get their foot in the door when it comes to autocross site acquisition.
“Street Survival schools are popular, too, with eight SCCA Region-hosted events hitting capacity in 2025, and of the Street Survival schools that still had room, more than three quarters of them were at nearly 80% capacity.”
The SCCA Foundation provides support for Regions engaging in hosting TRSS programs by providing easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on organizing, marketing, and hosting these events, and SCCA’s National Coordinator Linda Duncan is there to assist along the way with additional support from SCCA’s three zone coordinators. The zones consist of East, Central, and West. Rich Dunbar is the East Coordinator, Carla Russo is the Central Zone Coordinator, and Mick Posner is the West Zone Coordinator.
“By dividing the United States into three zones, they will be able to devote more time to organizer’s needs,” says Duncan.
Furthermore, all four of these folks that make up SCCA’s Tire Rack Street Survival team are Circle of Excellence recipients as recognized by BMWCCA Foundation.
