Don’t Register for SCCA Targa Today…Until You Read This

Stop! Don’t click that “Register” button for your next SCCA Targa event just yet! We’ve got some important news that could save you hundreds!

First, though: What is SCCA Targa? It’s a four-day motorsports adventure that maximizes fun behind the wheel. Each day features at least one on-track experience, which you can share with a teammate. Rather than a brief session at each location, SCCA Targa delivers multiple days of driving, camaraderie, and unforgettable road trips, all alongside fellow enthusiasts – your future friends. It’s also something you can enter right now. Think we’ve already announced this? You’re absolutely right – we have! But truth be known, there was one nugget we neglected to mention because, frankly, we hadn’t thought of it yet.

We’ll get to that, but back to that existential question: What is SCCA Targa?

The 2026 SCCA Targa calendar includes four events, each one four days in length. There’s Targa Tex-ish, which runs April 29-May 2, visiting tracks in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and back to Texas. Targa Carolinas takes place June 10-13, with stops in North Carolina and South Carolina. Targa New England follows on July 15-18, traveling through Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire (with an evening visit to Mt. Washington), and Pennsylvania. Then Targa Great Lakes wraps the season on July 29-Aug. 1, featuring circuits in Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois (plus an optional ferry ride across Lake Michigan).

SCCA Targa is something you won’t want to miss – and the only way to guarantee you won’t be sitting on the sidelines is by registering right now. This article contains everything you need to know about that.

What wasn’t announced in that article, however, is that a new class will be offered at all four of this year’s SCCA Targas.

“The new class is called the ‘Targa Experience,’ and it allows drivers to enter any of the SCCA Targa events and run without scoring,” explains SCCA’s Manager of Time Trials John Hunter. “That means your lap times and TrackSprint segments will not be timed. This does a couple of things. One, it removes the competition element from your event, which in turn reduces stress. Some drivers thrive on that pressure – others, not so much. The Targa Experience class enables teams to enter the event purely for the thrill of the drive, eliminating the stress of the scoring. And two, for those looking to obtain track insurance for the event – like through SCCA partner Hagerty – entering a non-timed track day often puts you in a lower insurance price bracket.”

To register for the Targa Experience class, after selecting your experience level (Novice, Intermediate, or Advanced), you then select “EX” for “Experience.”

Regardless of whether your time is scored at the SCCA Targa event of your choosing, pricing remains the same, as does the 10% discount to the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge weekend that takes place alongside the final stop of each SCCA Targa.
