(Bob Crawford is the Chair of the SCCA® Board of Directors)
As we close 2025 and set course for 2026, I want to share a few words of thanks, and a few comments regarding our collective path forward.
2025 has been one to remember. We battled the rising costs of operating events and a number of other economic variables (embedded inflation, tariffs, supply chain challenges, and so on) which negatively impacted members and Club financial performance. In spite of these challenges, we close the year with approximately 70,000 full-time and weekend members, meaning the heartbeat of the Club is strong, and we will continue to focus on creating access and participation opportunities for the SCCA family as we head into 2026.
The Path Forward
In early December, your National Board of Directors met in Kansas City to review the 2026 Operating Plan and Budget, as well as to welcome three new Board members:
- David Brown, Area 4 (appointed to fill vacancy)
- Mike Toombs, Area 10
- Sam Fouse, Area 12
I’d like to use this opportunity to personally thank Chuck Dobbs and Steve Strickland, who are both rotating off the National Board of Directors at the end of 2025, for their many years of service to the Club. Both have added tremendous value to the conversations around the Board table, and both have been steady hands on the wheel, helping to navigate the path forward for the SCCA. Thank you Chuck and Steve! I’d also like to thank Dayle Frame for his years of dedicated service to the Board as Area 4 Director as he transitions to serve as Club Racing Board Chair effective Jan. 1, 2026.
With regard to the 2026 Operating Plan and Budget, we are pursuing the launch of an upgraded scca.com website in 2026, developing a plan to provide greater support for SCCA Academy, and driving continuous improvement in the Club’s registration and membership platforms while collaborating with 115 Regions to support and execute 1,800-plus events, five National Series, and four National Championships on behalf of the roughly 70,000 members.
In support of these efforts, and to offset some of the embedded inflation we have been battling over the past several years, the Board has approved select membership and event fee increases. The Board of Directors has worked with SCCA Staff to make these increases as few and as small as possible, and we all believe they are required at this time to help offset higher operating costs.
See You in January 2026!
We will be going deep on many of the 2026 plans during the 2026 SCCA National Convention, which takes place online and for free on Jan. 15-23 (register here), as well as at the Divisional Meetings which follow (links to which can be found at the bottom of this page). I hope you’ll all make plans to participate in these as we “Level Up!” to meet the challenges of the New Year while working collectively to serve the members and all the members yet to be.
Thank you for your continued support of the SCCA!
