FF, FV, and F600 to Compete in Hoosier Super Tour in 2026

The Formula F (FF), Formula Vee® (FV), and Formula 600 (F600) classes, which were not included in the full slate of Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour weekends during the 2025 season, will be welcomed back into the fold for 2026. This alteration comes in direct response to an economic shift witnessed during the 2025 competition season that saw an unexpected decrease in participation across many forms of motorsport.

“After considerable discussion with the SCCA Board of Directors, Club Racing Board (CRB), and SCCA Staff, the decision has been made to include the FF, FV, and F600 run group into all Super Tours for 2026,” said SCCA Vice President of Road Racing Eric Prill. “A lot has changed in the U.S., the industry, and our sport since the path that ultimately removed that group from the 2025 events was charted. And while the need to focus on run group compatibility and congestion remains, the drop in entries over the last 12 months is a more critical situation for all stakeholders.

“With no guarantee that the external items affecting participation will improve, we need to do what is necessary to plan for a better 2026, focusing on the items within the SCCA’s control,” Prill added.

The three small-bore formula classes were originally shifted from the Hoosier Super Tour schedule to select “Bonus” U.S. Majors Tour® events to reduce congestion within Hoosier Super Tour race groups. Fewer cars per race group, combined with other efforts that included the likes of Flagtronics implementation plus the addition of a Clerk of the Course in race control and an Assistant Race Director for larger events, targeted minimizing full-course cautions, ultimately offering racers more green-flag racing conditions.

The sudden decrease in entry counts in 2025 at Hoosier Super Tours changed the conversation, however, with the decision for FF, FV, and F600 to be welcomed back to Hoosier Super Tours.

“With the changing environment, we need to focus on what we are at the core: a Club of members that want to race their cars and hang out with their friends,” said Prill. “Making these changes will likely have some consequences – we won’t be able to expand the three-day Super Tour event schedule to include practice, which may frustrate racers in some classes. We will be back to challenging run groups in some cases. But, ultimately, over a very short timeframe, we have shifted from too many cars on track at times to too few. To sustain the program through these times, we need to be open to making adjustments, and doing so quickly.”
