It’s October – this is essentially the start of the cooldown lap. Still, there are plenty of SCCA® members who are celebrating milestone anniversaries this month. All tallied, nearly 90 members have October as their 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, or 65 year anniversary as a Club member. Now, if you consider that October is the beginning of the off season, it’s easy to conclude that the members listed below are among some of the most hardcore planners, because there’s a significant chance they joined the Sports Car Club of America™ late in the year in order to compete the following year.
Who are these people?
Glance down the listing and you’ll discover numerous names you recognize. One that jumped out at first glance was San Francisco Region’s R.J. Gordy, who is celebrating his 40th anniversary as a Club member. A Spec Racer® Ford driver, Gordy volunteered for his Region before beginning his first term on the National SCCA Board of Directors representing Area 9 in 2006; he became the Board’s Chair in 2008.
Another name that can’t help but be noticed in the listing is that of St. Louis Region member Mark Weber. Celebrating his 55th anniversary as a Club member, Weber is well known for racing in two classes during the same weekend, most recently taking his 70th start at the 2025 SCCA National Championship Runoffs® – his 700th race start overall! Weber currently represents Area 6 on the SCCA Board of Directors.
SCCA Road Racing regulars will also recognize a slew of other names in the listing, like Pan American Region’s Stan Czacki, Oregon Region’s Ali Naimi, and New England Region’s Andrew Bettencourt.
