5 Reasons the 2025 Time Trials Nationals is Where You Need to Be

If you’re on the fence about going to the Sept. 19-21, 2025, Tire Rack SCCA® Time Trials Nationals, it’s time to get off that fence and into the driver’s seat. Fact is, there are hundreds of incredible reasons to attend this year’s Time Trials Nationals – and while many of them are, not all of them are the incredible amount of track time you’ll experience at the event.

The 2025 running of SCCA’s Time Trials Nationals is taking place at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) in Wampum, PA. If that event-and-track-combo don’t sound familiar, you’re not going crazy – this is, indeed, the first year that Time Trials Nationals has been held at Pitt Race.

Which leads us to the top five reasons you need to attend this year’s event…

1. Track Records Will Drop
While this is the first time the Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals has been held at Pitt Race, it’s not the first time SCCA’s National Time Trials program has been to the circuit.

The Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge (using its previous name: Time Trials National Tour) first traveled to Pitt Race in 2019, and with the exception of 2020, has returned every year. That means there are plenty of track records and personal bests in the books. 2025, however, is the first time Time Trials Nationals has been to Pitt Race – and we all know, Time Trials Nationals is where people bring their “A” game.

Even if you won your class at Pitt Race before, if you want to see how you stack up, Time Trials Nationals is where you need to be.

2. Seat Time Galore…More, More, More
Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals brings more Time Attack participants than any competition of its type in the U.S. It also offers the most seat time.

For example, Friday, Sept. 19, puts drivers on track for a 20-minute practice session followed by a 20-minute timed session…followed by a 15-minute timed session. That’s a lot of track time – and it’s only the beginning, because on Saturday, drivers will see four more timed sessions, with Sunday bringing three more timed sessions before KONI Podium celebrations begin.

All of that track time comes on Pitt Race’s 2.78-mile, 19-turn full course – a renowned circuit that offers a stunning combination of high-speed straights and white-knuckle technical sections with just enough elevation deviation to make you pucker.

If that’s not enough wheel time, give a shot at the on-site go-karting.

3. It’s SUPERFLY
Don’t know what SUPERFLY means? Then you mustn’t have read the announcement where we covered all of that. In a nutshell, SUPERFLY is a car show that celebrates vehicles from the 1990s and 2000s, although other awesome cars are also welcome.

SUPERFLY is more than that, though. It’s where automotive passion, lifestyle, and all-round awesomeness meet.

“Time Trials Nationals participants share the same enthusiasm as SUPERFLY show participants, and you're about to see just how awesome it is when these two worlds collide,” SUPERFLY's Bradley Brownell previously told us. “We all love our cars and can’t wait to bring these worlds together to see what kind of mad science experiments result. The Time Trials Nationals paddock is already awesome enough to be part of any SUPERFLY gathering, so it's the perfect opportunity for both events to grow together!”

This also means there’s more for you – a Time Trials Nationals driver – to do while you’re off the track, because you’re going to be smack dab in the middle of an awesome car show.

4. These Points Matter
The Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge offers events all across the country that put your high-performance driving skills to the test. The Time Attack Challenge is also a nationwide points series, with the final step coming at Time Trials Nationals.

Points for the Time Attack Challenge are earned using the best finishes at any two of the season’s seven Time Attack Challenge events, with bonus points given for track records. The third point-earning opportunity happens at the three-day Time Trials Nationals. There, drivers will have an opportunity to earn one more set of points, with even more bonus points given for lap records. And remember, while a standard Time Attack Challenge win is worth 10 points, a win at Time Trials Nationals earns 16 points, with points-scoring positions scaling in a similar fashion down to sixth place. Even the value of a lap record jumps from being worth one point to five.

Here's a breakdown of how the points earning compares:

  • Time Attack Challenge points (1st-6th): 10, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 (lap record = 1 additional point)
  • Time Trials Nationals (1st-6th): 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 (lap record = 5 additional points)

Meanwhile, here’s how the class-by-class points races look heading into Time Trials Nationals.

TL;DR, if you want to win that overall class title, you’ve got to go to Time Trials Nationals!

5. This Is It
That sounds kind of final – we don’t mean it that way. But this, after all, is it for the year. Once the Sept. 19-21, 2025, Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals concludes, there are no more Time Attack Challenges for the year.

Sad face emoji.

Fear not, because the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge will be back in 2026, with SUPERFLY at all events – there will even be a West Coast Time Attack Challenge series – but 2026 is soooo far away. Months! It might as well be an eternity. So come on out and celebrate the end of the competition season with us at Pitt Race, where you can camp on site, party in the paddock, get your fill of seat time, set a new personal best, earn more championship points, and enjoy all the SUPERFLY goings-on throughout the weekend.
