Don’t Let These 2025 SCCA Runoffs Dates Pass You By

The 2025 SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® Presented by Sunoco will be here before you know it – turns out, Sept. 29-Oct. 5 is barely three months away. While that date is quickly nearing, other deadlines are too, namely prep shop paddock requests, plus online event registration, single car paddock reservations, the early entry deadline, and more.

What are all of these dates? We’ll tell you – right after we bring you up to speed on why you need to go to this year’s winner-take-all National Championship Runoffs.

With hundreds of racers battling for SCCA National Championship titles on one of America’s most challenging and sought-after racing circuits, the Runoffs is an event to behold. This annual battle is once again taking place on the hallowed grounds of Road America, a historic circuit in the beautiful Kettle Moraine region of Wisconsin. Boasting 4.048 miles of winding pavement with 14 challenging turns that put even the best of drivers to the test, Road America has a proven track record (pun most certainly intended) that is sure to thrill during the Runoffs Hagerty Race Days on Oct. 4-5.

The track is actually better than ever. A repave just a few years ago changed the track’s demeanor, and some over the winter improvements to the corner exit at the Kink plus the bridge between Turn 14 and start/finish have further enhanced the National Park of Speed.

The Runoffs qualifying and race days have also changed compared to last year, with this year featuring two days of qualifying (Oct. 2-3) and two days of racing (Oct. 4-5).

While there are dates you need to know, there’s key information you’ll want to keep bookmarked as well, like the event supplemental regulations, event schedule, and test day information. Those can be found at scca.com/runoffs, or by using the links below.

Dates to Know

June 23: Prep Shop Paddock Requests
Prep shop paddock requests can be made starting at 9 a.m. CT on Monday, June 23. The procedure will be the same as used in 2022-’24. This request process is only available to eligible prep shops that meet certain criteria, such as being a commercial business that provides event race services and employs crew members. More details and criteria can be found in the Registration and Paddock Parking Information document.

Details needed during the Runoffs paddock request process include prep shop business information, as well as the name, SCCA member number, and car class for each driver competing through a prep shop. These drivers need not have fulfilled Runoffs qualification criteria at this time, and prep shops have until July 27 to submit requests.

Also required is the trailer/rig type, width, and length of the trailer/rig with awning, and total compound footprint. Prep shops will indicate their preferred paddock location during the request process. Prep shop paddock assignments will begin July 28. Don’t forget drivers paddocking with a prep shop must be registered in order to be considered in the prep shop paddock request.

July 9: Driver and Volunteer Registration
The registration window for volunteers and drivers opens at 10 a.m. CT on Wednesday, July 9 at MotorsportReg.com. Drivers need not have fulfilled Runoffs qualification criteria to register for the event. Prior to the registration process, competitors should log into their MotorsportReg account to ensure their SCCA member number, license expiration date, and vehicle profile information are correct. This will save time and reduce frustration during online registration.

During the registration process, drivers will have the opportunity to select a prep shop (completing the verification process for the Prep Shop Paddock Request) or a manufacturer paddock area. Prep shop and manufacturer assignments will begin July 28, and event registration must be completed before the assignment can be made.

Drivers who participated in the 2024 Runoffs may select their 2025 car number in the same class for this year’s event. Eligible competitors must register no later than 9 a.m. CT on Wednesday, July 16, to secure the previous year’s number. Afterward, unclaimed 2024 numbers will become available to other competitors.

In the case of groups with combined qualifying sessions, if two competitors request the same number, the requested number will be assigned to the competitor who completed registration first. As always, the number “1” is reserved for the defending National Champion in each class.

Payment will be deferred until Aug. 18, 2025, or when an entry is assigned a paddock space, whichever occurs first.

This year, prep shops and their employees will register at the same link as drivers.

The Runoffs couldn’t take place without the talented group of volunteer officials who put in long hours to have, what some consider to be, the best seat in the house. Whether you’re interested in flagging, grid, tech, timing, or any of the other critical specialties that keep the event running smoothly, registration will open on the same day, just at a different link.

July 9: Test Day and Camping Registration
Test day reservations should be made during the driver registration procedure, which opens July 9. Those requests are made within the driver registration process. The test day schedule is available from the Runoffs event page menu.

Test Day Schedule

There will be a free participant camping area for dry RV/camping across from the Turn 7 spectator hill. During online event registration, participants may request a camping pass (for an unreserved spot) in this area by simply checking a box. Participants may sleep in their marked paddock area at no charge.

Road America also offers reserved RV camping spots with and without electricity, as well as reserved tent camping. Participants may reserve these sites through Road America using this link.

Road America also offers cabin rentals located along the front straight.

Aug. 20: Single-Car Paddock Reservations
The single-car paddock reservation process opens at 12 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at MotorsportReg.com. Check out the Runoffs event page after August 1 for more details and a link to the form on MotorsportReg.com.

Block Party’s Back!

And finally, it’s important to note that the block party will return for 2025, along with other fun and hijinks in and around the facility.

The Turn 5 Pit Stop Welcome Party will take place on Wednesday evening. As drivers prepare for the weekend ahead on the track walk, volunteers, officials, crew, and supporters will toast the start of another Runoffs with Wisconsin brats, beer, and other refreshments. When the drivers reach Turn 5, they can grab provisions to sustain them on the rest of the track walk – or they can hang out.

The annual Block Party will take place Thursday night, with the stops placed closer together this year to make for a seamless experience.

On Friday, after the Tire Rack Pole Awards are handed out, an All Participant Party will be held in the Road America Center. Everyone is invited to join for hot food and cold drinks as we celebrate the Club’s Workers of the Year, Presented by Mazda.
