Whether this year has been a competition season to remember or one you’d prefer to forget, the best (some might say ONLY) way to wrap 2025 is by heading to the Sept. 19-21 Tire Rack SCCA® Time Trials Nationals.
Time Trials Nationals is the granddaddy of the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge. Predating the entire series, Time Trials Nationals turned up the heat in 2018, spawning a national series (then called the Time Trials National Tour) from 2019-’24. In 2025, the Tour was reborn as the Time Attack Challenge – but the Time Trials Nationals remains the same. And by “the same,” we mean an awesome must-attend event. Yet there’s one HUGE difference this year: For the first time ever, Time Trials Nationals will be held at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, PA.
Pitt Race has undergone quite a transformation since its creation around the turn of the century. The facility really hit its stride less than 15 years ago, however, with the addition of a second racing circuit, which added a 1.2-mile track option to the already fantastic 1.6-mile original road course. Combined, the South and North tracks turn into a winding 2.780-mile racetrack that challenges even the best.
What to Know
The Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals is still a few months away, but there are several items you’ll want to know – for instance, knowing which track configurations will be run would be helpful in your prep, as would knowing what local accommodations are like, whether on-site camping is a thing, and more (like, when registration opens).
First things first: Registration for Time Trials Nationals begins June 19, 2025, at 4 p.m. CT. Now onto the other stuff...
This year’s Time Trials Nationals will once again share the facility with the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge (UTCC). That event will take place the Thursday leading into Time Trials Nationals – and there’s nothing saying you can’t apply to compete in the UTCC as well as the Time Trials Nationals. For that, check out ultimatetrackcarchallenge.com.
We’re not going to give away all of the event’s secrets just yet, but expect to face off against the biggest of the Pitt Race circuits (that’s the full course!) with multiple sessions during the event’s three days counting toward your cumulatively-timed overall score. The top three in each class will then celebrate on the KONI Podium.
There will also be other reasons to celebrate at the event, like when new lap records are recognized, when fastest drive types are applauded, and when the ever-popular superlative awards take center stage.
Beyond that, this will be the final stop for the Time Attack Challenge Series for 2025, meaning the series champions will be crowned at Time Trials Nationals. Who’s leading those point races? The series points can be found here.
While this is the first time Time Trials Nationals has been to Pitt Race, this isn’t the first time for the yearlong competition series. That means there are plenty of times to chase and drivers to keep an eye on. To discover what should be in your crosshairs, search for Pitt Race on the Time Attack Challenge’s Track Records and Personal Bests page.
If track time prior to Time Trials Nationals will help you meet your goals, know that there will be practice sessions available during a Thursday test day, but note that these are not part of the event. More information on those sessions will be available soon.
Did someone say camping? No? Well, you should have, because camping at Pitt Race during the Time Attack Challenge is not only allowed, it’s encouraged! There’s no better way to fully immerse yourself in a motorsport experience than living at the racetrack. Pitt Race’s website has all the details on that topic.
How to Register
What’s the expression? To finish first, first you must finish. There’s another step to that, though, and it goes something like this: To experience the Time Trials Nationals, first you must register.
Competing in this year’s Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals is something you won’t want to miss – and with registration opening on June 19 at 4 p.m. CT, it’s something you need to sign up for…now!
