If there’s one problem with the Tire Rack SCCA® Solo® National Championships, it’s that it often hits the entry cap shortly after registration opens.
If there are two problems with the Solo Nationals, it’s that it has a tendency to reach its entry cap quickly … AND the event is so much fun (if you could consider that a problem).
The truth is, Solo Nats sells out BECAUSE it’s so much fun. But it’s no fun if the event’s sold out by the time you go to register – if only that could be fixed.
Let’s put a pin in that for now.
Open Registration Begins
Because of the potential for the event to sell out, you should know that Tier 2 registration for the Sept. 1-5, 2025, Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships opens on June 17 at 3 p.m. CT (and, in case you don’t know, Tier 2 this year is code for Open Registration). That means at 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday, June 17, you need to be at your computer or on your phone ready to sign up.
Remember the pin from earlier? Let’s revisit that.
“The last few years have seen a high demand for entries at the Solo National Championships, so this year we’re working to allow a spot for everyone who wants to compete,” explains Rick Myers, SCCA’s Director of Rally/Solo. “Efficiencies in event operations have allowed us to raise the entry cap for the event in the past, and it’s happening once more in 2025. This year, the cap bumps up by 100 to 1,400 entries.”
To allow for this increase, the entry cap is actually per set of competition days, meaning the entry cap for Tuesday/Wednesday is 700, with the same entry cap for Thursday/Friday competition.
“SCCA’s hard work at balancing potential entries across the two sets of competition days is shown in the announcement of this year’s competition run days,” says Myers, adding, “Between that and other event efficiencies, our goal is to make room for everyone who wants to compete at this year’s Solo Nationals.”
This isn’t to say the event won’t hit the entry cap, it’s just that SCCA is doing everything in its power to ensure everyone who wants to enter the Solo National Championships can enter the Solo National Championships.
Time to Rock!
Event efficiency is necessary, but it isn’t fun – and you want fun!
This year’s Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships theme is rock-n-roll, which means Solo Nats is gonna rock! But what exactly is rock-n-roll? Is it Aerosmith? Nirvana? Alice Cooper? The Ramones? Rather than debating, we’re saying the answer is YEAH! If you think the music is rock, then hells bells, rock on!
To folks like us, roaring exhausts and squealing tires are music to the ears. Combined with the rock event theme, that makes the Solo Nats a veritable festival – and this festival kicks off on Monday, Sept. 1, with a block party that’ll be the rock of ages offering food and beverages throughout the paddock. This is when you’ll really want to dress the part. This is when you show everyone what you got.
Wednesday evening’s party (which celebrates the wrapping up of the first two days of competition and the kicking off of the final two) will also be one to remember – this will include the champion’s walk, a few major awards … AND food trucks! While we’ll require you bring your rockin’ attitude to this party, leave your money behind because what rocks more than food trucks is when we pick up the tab.

Test-n-Tune, Entry Fee, and More
There’s more to know. Like, if you want to run on the Test-n-Tune course, there’s a separate registration for that. The long and short of it is that for $50, you get four runs on the Test-n-Tune course during a specific one-hour slot. (BTW, $10 of that entry fee goes to SCCA Foundation to support Tire Rack Street Survival Schools.) Note that drivers are able to purchase more than a single one-hour time slot, but a single vehicle may not be entered more than once within the same hour (in other words, drivers and codrivers looking for eight runs will have to register for two time slots).
You’ll also want to know that Solo Nats registration costs $224 – until it doesn’t. Come July 30 at 12:01 a.m. CT, the entry fee increases to $325, with those registering with the higher entry fee not being eligible to receive a refund should they choose to cancel their entry.
Also on July 30 at 12:01 a.m. CT, the cancellation fee increases to $100 for those registered prior to July 30 and canceling between July 30 and Aug. 29.
Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. CT brings the end of online registration, while 7 p.m. CT on Aug. 29 is the last day to cancel and receive a refund (less the $100 cancellation fee) for those who registered prior to July 30).
What Else?
The biggie here is to remember to register for the Sept. 1-5, 2025, Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships on June 17 at 3 p.m. CT.
If this event doesn’t light your fire, nothing will.
