Spring Nationals Jumped into Action with a ProSolo That Threw Everything at the Drivers

As someone said on social media, the May 22-24, 2025, Tire Rack SCCA® Lincoln ProSolo® was “typical Lincoln autocross” – all in all, that’s a great thing!

Yes, Friday brought changing conditions as it started cool, faded to damp, and eventually got full wet before beginning to dry out again – but Saturday was sunny and dry, which meant the courses were fresh again.

Even so, the action was hot all weekend long, and thanks to Nebraska Region pulling hosting duty, the event was top notch – the Roger Johnson-designed courses were fantastic, too.

Before we get to what happened, though, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the SCCA Women on Track Driver Development recipient for this event was Kasey Gintner, offering her free coaching from Van Townsend. Gintner put it all together during the weekend and scored a trophy in Ladies Class 2.

Now onto the event…

Class Competition

Let’s begin with thin margins, and it doesn’t get much thinner than A Street Touring. Vivek Goel was just slightly quicker on one side; Daniel McCelvey was nearly as much quicker on the other side. Put those together, and it was Goel with a 0.009sec margin of victory in class at Lincoln. Razor thin!

Evan Williams posted the drive of Saturday morning in F Street, cutting a tremendous amount of time and taking down a depth of talent including runner-up Sam Strano by just 0.086sec. Impressive!

Ladies Class 1 remained at less than a tenth at the top as well. Nicole Wong was queen of the mountain in an SSP-prepared Chevrolet Corvette at the end of the runs, topping Andie Albin’s F Modified DoofWagon Smitty S by just 0.056sec on the index. Yikes!

That’s just a taste of the competition. The complete class results have more.

Challenging Times

There’s never shame in drawing into the Bonus Challenge, and with most drivers staying for the Tire Rack SCCA Solo® National Tour over the two days that followed, the Bonus Challenge competition was legit. Rick Cone made the most of it, taking down Ashley Weaver, Russell Blum, and Martin Matagno to win the Lincoln Bonus Challenge.

Holly Schwedler caught fire during the Ladies Challenge to take victory there. Third in the Ladies Class 1 competition, she drove her E Prepared Honda Civic to an opening round victory over Jordan Towns and Kate Fisher to square off with Kim Whitener in the final. Schwedler took down Whitener for the Ladies Challenge victory at Lincoln Airpark and the top points of the event.

That win meant Schwedler also claimed the SCCA Women on Track’s Pay it Forward award, allowing her to gift a free National Solo entry to a woman from her Region.

After months and months of build-up on his newly purchased F Modified machine, Larry MacLeod showed up in Lincoln ready to march through the bracket in … his old Kart Modified machine. And if that wasn’t enough for Super Challenge competitors to be concerned about, the other side of the bracket had yet another legend, Jeff Kiesel, in his KFR Turbo Sprite.

No surprise, those two matched up head-to-head in the finals. Trying to get the jump, MacLeod had an opening red light, meaning the victory went to Kiesel.

On to Summer

If Lincoln bookends the summer with Spring Nationals and “Nationals” Nationals, then the summer is officially underway in the autocross world!

Next up for SCCA’s National Solo series is Brunswick, which is another doubleheader weekend featuring both the Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Series (June 4-6) and the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tour (June 6-8). Will anyone pull the double-double?
