One hundred thirty members of the Sports Car Club of America® celebrated milestone membership anniversaries this month. Celebrating 25-, 30-, 35-, 40-, 45-, 50-, 55-, 60-, and 65-year memberships, these SCCA diehards experienced #funwithcars and kept coming back for more.
If we were to present a “determination” award to a group of members (which we don’t), 25-year members would take the cake this month, with 38 staying the course from their join/rejoin date. Forty-year members, however, had a fantastic showing, with 31 members joining (or rejoining) in May 1984 and continuing to be involved with the Club to this very day. Not far behind, though, are the 35-year members, with 25 enthusiasts still calling this Club their weekend family.
Still, serious props go to Richard E. Crowell, Ted A. Clark, WM A. Hamilton, and John A. Willes – these four first joined the SCCA 60 or more years ago and are still members today. That means they joined the Club when SCCA legends Phil Hill and Dan Gurney were racing in (most notably) Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. What an exciting time to join the Club!
