Intrigued by Spec MX-5? Check Out This Opportunity

One of Mazda’s hottest classes is Spec MX-5, with the Spec MX-5 Challenge presented by Toyo Tires featuring a national series, as well as several regional series options – roughly half of which are SCCA sanctioned. The Spec MX-5 class is also approved as a standalone class within SCCA Road Racing weekends, plus the cars are able to run in their Spec MX-5 configuration in Touring 3. With a multitude of modern spec components to guarantee performance equality, including spec motor parts and suspension, Spec MX-5 is a growing class that deserves your attention. To that end, Mazda has a Spec MX-5 promotion you shouldn’t ignore.

“We are very close to achieving critical mass in the spec series,” explained a Mazda Motorsports representative. “We set out to have 15-plus cars in each race, while offering at least five events in the West, East, Midwest and South, with some crossover. We are right there with all the events in the East, Midwest, and South, outside of one event, and the West is coming on nicely. With another 20 to 30 cars built before next race season, we will achieve our tipping point, looking to add even more events in 2024, on our way to achieving our long-term goal for Spec MX-5 to become a national class in both NASA and SCCA racing.”

With that goal in mind, Mazda is offering several deals. For those who buy a parts kit for a new build from Mazda Motorsports and prepay the 2023 regular season registration fee to Spec MX-5 Challenge by Nov. 31, 2022, they will receive:

  • 25 percent off the kit price (approx. discount value of $3,500)
  • One free set of single-adjustable Penske Racing Shocks to the first six purchasers (approx. value of $2,100 per set)
  • 25 percent off all approved spares for this build at time of purchase (e.g., includes RX-8 hubs for the SMX)
  • About $2,200 in a complimentary spare parts kit (rotors and more)
  • One free set of race tires from Toyo Tires (to be shipped in January 2023; offer applies to first 25 kit orders; approx. value of $1,150)

For those purchasing a Spec MX-5 conversion kit from Mazda Motorsports for their NC MX-5 race car who prepay their registration fees to Spec MX-5 Challenge, they will receive:
