’22 RallyCross National Championship Registration Poised To Open

Barely two months ago, it was announced that the 2022 SCCA RallyCross National Championship would take place at Pikes Peak International Raceway on Sept. 23-25. Now, registration for the event is about to kick off – but first, there are things you need to know.

The RallyCross National Championship is where the best RallyCrossers in the nation converge to battle for the top spots in their respective classes. While this event has repeated venues several times through the years, it has been more than a decade since the title bout took place in Colorado. This portion of the country rocks an incredibly enthusiastic RallyCross community, making Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, CO, an ideal location for the National Championship event, with Colorado and Continental Divide Regions – combining to form Colorado RallyCross – extraordinarily capable hosts.

Registration for the 2022 RallyCross National Championship will be divided into three tiers, with the first opening on July 13. The next two registration tiers open in one-week increments, Tier 2 on July 20 and Tier 3 on Aug. 3.

Tier 1 – July 13
Registration for former RallyCross National Champions and 2021 RallyCross Nationals event Chiefs will take place on July 13.

Tier 2 – July 20
Registration for 2017-’21 RallyCross National Championship competitors and 2021 RallyCross National Tour winners will open on July 20.

Tier 3 – Aug. 3
Registration opens for the general public on Aug. 3.

Registration will begin on the dates noted at 6 p.m. CDT. Vehicle numbers will be available as first come, first served, with a cap of 100 entries, so registering early in your tier is highly encouraged.

Those with a keen eye will notice the entry cap has been reduced by 25 over the 2021 event. This reduction is designed to minimize course degradation while maximizing overall participant experience. Because of the reduced entry cap, this year's entry fee will increase by $10 to $185.

Other notable dates include: Sept. 12 (the last registration day that qualifies you for a refund should you cancel by Sept. 21), Sept. 19 (online registration closes at 6 p.m. CDT), and Sept. 21 (the last day to cancel if you registered by Sept. 12). Of note is that all refunds will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

The Event Supplemental Regulations will be posted on the RallyCross National Championship website prior to Aug. 1. Hotel information can also be found on that page.

Three Days of Fun

Saturday’s forecast calls for sunrise at 6:51 a.m., allowing for 39 minutes of morning course walks prior to the course being closed and cars heading to the grid. Come 8 a.m., the action will be in full swing, with afternoon runs slated to begin at 1 p.m.

Sunday follows a similar morning schedule to Saturday, with the quickly-becoming-traditional Race of Champions taking to the course at 3 p.m. The awards presentation will take place once the Race of Champions has wrapped.
