Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Launches in Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (September 29, 2018) – The new SCCA Time Trials program is made up of two competitive elements: HotLap timed open lapping on the Grand Course at NCM Motorsports Park and TrackSprints, using smaller pieces of the course with each driver having three chances to set their fastest time on the course from a standing start. In total, winners will be named based on their fastest HotLap times from each day and fastest TrackSprint times from three configurations for a total of five competitive elements.

After announcing the partnership with Tire Rack to present the inaugural SCCA Time Trials Nationals this weekend, the event got up and running Friday morning with practice lapping sessions, allowing competitors to get comfortable with the 23-turn Grand Full course. In the afternoon, drivers got their first competition runs in the first of three TrackSprint sessions, using NCM’s East Course.

Once competition wound down, Hagerty sponsored a participant party that continued well into the evening with participants playing schoolyard games in the paddock. The social aspect continues through the weekend with a Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack party Saturday night, followed by karting at the NCM Kartplex.

Since not everybody could make the trip to Bowling Green, live timing and audio are available at SCCA.com/live. Tune in for live daily coverage of the event. Additional information about the Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals can be found at SCCA.com/TTNats.
