2017 Tire Rack Packwood Champ Tour: Tune-In

Entry List

The weather is looking great and 256 entries are in the system. It’s time to get ready for the 2017 Tire Rack SCCA Packwood Championship Tour. Fierce battles are antipated in all categories. Street Tires, DOT R-Compounds, and slicks will be on the pavement in beautiful Packwood, Washington. If you can’t make it, tune-into SoloLive and watch SoloMatters on Facebook.

B-Street (14)

Drivers in this diverse class are representing Chevy, Ford, Subaru, Honda, BMW, and Porsche. Will Dan Bullis pedal that C5 Corvette between the lights with the lowest time like he did in Canada last weekend, or will Tasha Mikko take the win through the clever use of a Ford Focus RS? None of the above if Tom Kerns has anything to say about it. Stay tuned to find out, in Packwood, B-Street is anybody’s game.

C-Street (12) and E-Street (12)

These are the two largest stock classes, with 12 entries each. Will Cruz will be bringing his 2016 MX-5 to the battle along with eight other ND Miata drivers, including Brian Coulson, last year’s B-Street winner. The remaining three cars in class include a Fiata, 2017 BRZ, and an RX8. Meanwhile, in E-Street, Craig Boyle will be shooting for first place in his 2000 Miata, but Tony Rodriguez is bringing the heat in an MR2, so this should be a close race.

D-Street (7)
Last year in Packwood, this was a class for the WRX. This year, however, a flood of Toyobaru drivers are going to do their best to shake things up. WRX driver, Mitch Lewis, will be defending the honor of the WRX.

Street Touring Xtreme (19)

STX has an entry list comprised primarily of Toyobarus, but Chris Thorpe is bringing the heat in his Golf R. Annie Gill, however, knows the secrets of the Rabbit and will be using this knowledge to fight him off using the power of the Toyobaru. These two are teammates, and will be doing their best to push each-other ahead of the 17 other cars in class, while keeping ahead of the other.

Street Touring Roadster (24)

STR is the largest class of the event, with twenty-four entries. Picking a winner won’t be easy, most of you will probably be watching Bauer/Spyksma and Dietz/Lillejord fight the battle, but there are plenty of other drivers that can take the win. This class will show great competition throughout.

Super Street Prepared (9)

Everybody loves the sound of the SSP field. Audi, Chevy, and Porsche all make great noises while going very fast. Mitch Fagundes took the win last year, will he do it again this year?

C Street Prepared (10)

Jim Mclaughlan will be defending his win from last year against the likes of Don Nimi and Bob Bundy. This class of R-Compound-shod Miatas and Civic will be worth watching.

Prepared (25)

Twenty five drivers of prepared cars will be dodging the cones this weekend. This includes the 7-driver field of C-Prepared, 8 drivers in D-Prepared, and 7 in the diverse F-Prepared class.

C-Modified (10)

With 10 drivers, C-Modified makes up just over half of the 19 Modified-class entries. This class was a close one last year, and I bet it will be a close on this weekend with some fresh drivers and a dry forecast. Expect to see some lead changes throughout the weekend.
