Saturday Recap
With the Blytheville Pro Solo starting like clock work Saturday morning, temperatures were already climbing with oppressive humidity. That didn’t keep participants enthusiasm down however, and most classes came out of the lights blazing.
A Street has four Corvettes and one Cayman but the loan Saturn Sky driven by Marty Montagno was in the lead at the end of the first heat. But David Entz was able to overcome early difficulties and had the lead at the end of second heat.
Vivek Goel has eight good runs with only one cone penalty for the lead in B Street by holding off Brian Johns in second place. However, Tom DeYoung was able to get in four clean runs in second heat to over-take Johns after DeYoung’s two DNFs and a RL in the first heat. This class promises to be a slug fest Sunday.
C Street is a tight class with a little more than six tenths separating the leader Daniel McCelvey from Jared Langenfeld in second and Andy Neilson in third. Three MR2 Spyders are fighting it out for the lead in ES. Adam Norton and Steven Rife were close behind Eric Peterson at the end of first heat. But Peterson put more distance after two outstanding runs on each side at the end of second heat.
And there's very close competition for the lead in STR with only .093 from Kerry Coughlin in second to Jed Peterson in first. If that margin continues Sunday, that will make this class very exciting to follow.
Even after four consecutive red lights in the second heat, David Marcus holds the lead in STX by only .396 over Darrin DiSimo. Marcus will have to correct that or DiSimo will take advantage of an open door in tomorrow’s competition. STS is another close class with the four trophy positions currently occupied by Ron Williams, John Clark, Gerald Terranova and Lee Chhit separated by 1.36 total.

The SSM Miatas are ruling that class with the dual threat of Randall Wilcox and Eric Anderson leading Christopher Edens in the last trophy position. Dual threat would also apply to Eric Hyman and Troy Dudley in first and second in SM piloting the Nissan GT-R.
Dennis Sparks has a substantial lead in Bump Class 2 over Jocelin Huang in second place. But Bump Class 4 is much tighter, with the four trophy spots being held by Cody Pennell, Frank Likert, Mark Foley and Mark Stevens with less than a second separating those four positions.
Donna Marx has a substantial lead in Ladies Class 1 while Cindy Duncan and Jordan Towns scrap it out for the lead in Ladies Class 2 with a slim margin .047 in favor of Duncan. We expect Laura Campbell to take the win in Ladies Class 3 with a strong tailwind on the road to the Pro Solo Finale in Lincoln. And Erik Strelnieks was only able to get in two runs in the first heat having difficulties in his FP Boxster while letting his co-driver Troy Acosta get the seat time and solidify his lead in Race Tire 2.
Heat and humidity are forecasted to improve on the second day of Blytheville Pro Solo action. That will delight drivers and course workers alike. With renewed interest and vigor, the standings will certainly change and provide for very exciting challenge competition.
