Lucky Dog Winner - Terri Mayo
So as one might expect, the weather was far from the nice "high of 71" we'd predicted earlier in the week, but it was still nice. With the competition aspect out of the way on Saturday, Sunday the drivers took to the stage for an attempt to do a reset from day before for the Match portion of the event.
The rules were simple: The top eight PAX finishers per heat (there were three heats this past weekend) would be in the "Top Dog" Challenge while placers nine through sixteen would be in the "Underdog" Challenge. A random drawing of eight would be placed into the "Lucky Dog" Challenge.
Heat One went off without a hitch with the following that qualified for Top Dog:
- Brian Peters - AS - Z06
- Kenton Koch - CS - RX8
- Ron Bauer - CS - ND Miata
- Mark Scroggs - FS - Ecoboost Mustang
- Brandon Porambo - CS - RX8
- Ben Clement - BS - AP2 S2K
- Adam Tarnoff - CS - RX-8

Heat One's Underdogs:

- Morgan Trotter - STF - RSX Type S
- Charly Spyksma - CS - ND Miata
- Kaustav Acharya - DS - WRX
In the middle of Heat Two, a course change was required to be made in order to account for the breakup on in the driving line almost five feet from it’s original location. This pinched off the exit point after the second slalom. Some people didn’t notice a difference, but a lot of others did and were concerned about being ranked on a run they could probably not duplicate due to the now extra element on course.

With the sun still well up in the air, we wrapped up the first ever Match Tour dubbed the "Oceanside Showdown" with a lot of competitors' sights set at El Toro this coming weekend for the Pro Solo. Many thanks to Warren Leach, Jeff Lonsdale, Jason Munchoff, Terri Mayo, Ginny McLaughlin, and many others of San Diego Region for working the event and making sure that everything was running smoothly. But mostly thank YOU, dear participants, for signing up and taking part of this new fun format that brought a lot of new-comers out.
