Here it comes, the second of the back to back Packwood events. The best bang for your buck event format put on by the National staff, the Packwood Prosolo. With support of the North West Region and Event Chair Geoff Clark, this will be a fun and beautiful event to be at. The course designer position is still open for this event, although it sounds like first time ProSolo course designer Mike Brausen might be designing course. If you're still not convinced to go, here are some other reasons you should be there.
This is your last chance on the West coast to get points for the ProSolo season before the Finale in September. The only other remaining event is in Toledo Ohio two weeks after. For someone in California that is a 2300 mile drive. Starting to look pretty appealing, right? Because Packwood often has a lower entry count, this is your chance to pad your points before going to the big show in Nebraska. Points don't come easy at the Finale, time to make sure you go in stacked.
If you’re coming out for both event and need something to do in the week between them, look no further than Portland Oregon. Just 2.5 hours South West of Packwood, it’s an easy trip after the Tour for some time to relax. A regular on the list of Top-5 beer destinations in the world, Portland boasts 58 active breweries within the city limits, and over 70 in the surrounding area. If you can't find something you like in this city, you should probably be drinking water.
If putting on mileage between events doesn't seem ideal to you, you need not travel far for some fresh air and beautiful outdoors. Mount Rainier National Park offers fantastic hiking through fields, beautiful pastures and up the various mountain ranges. Campgrounds are open for the season for your enjoyment. If the rustic life isn’t for you, Paradise Inn is near the base of the Cascade range and offers views of the white capped mountains from the front door.So many options to enjoy the beautiful outdoors in your time before or after the event.
6 minutes of autocross isn't the only reason we come out, the evening festivities are sure to be worth the trip alone. In the North West, it stays light out until 10pm so expect an evening of fun on site with a great group of people. Word has it that the party will likely migrate into town to a local bar where Ron Bauer and Karl Coleman will perform some of your 80's favorites, and Pearl Jam’s greatest hits. Come with an sing along with everyone in what will be an amazing time.
If you’re like me, this might be your one chance to see one of the most different and fantastic areas of our country. You could easily spend weeks out here trying to see everything. My advice is to find a few key things, and spend plenty of time at them.At the chance you might not be back, make it a trip that counts and join us for what will surely be a great event that you can check off your bucket list.
