Round 3 of the Pro Solo series will be held at FedEx Field in Landover Maryland, better known as just "the DC Pro". If you were lucky enough to have been at a computer and get your registrations in before the event filled in only a few hours, you are in for a treat. The DC round is always popular as it attracts drivers from the most densely populated areas in the country and is the only true east coast ProSolo on the schedule this year.

FedEx Field presents a series of challenges for drivers with surface changes, bumps and rather large changes in elevation, including the need for brakes at the tree to prevent rolling out of staging. Mind you the pitch at the start is different from left to right course, so you’ve really got to be paying attention! Given that the lot is not huge, the courses wrap around on themselves and generally end up being a bit different, especially into the finish elements.

Carrying on the east coast tradition of large STR turnouts, 28 competitors will be fighting for the podium. This will be the first test for a number of these drivers who have shifted classes in the shake up from stock to street. Last year’s overall ProSolo champion, Nick Barbato, will be out to show he can be fast in an S2000 CR without Hoosiers. He’ll be co-driving this season with Noel Leslie in the only CR on the grid. The grid will be full of S2000’s, Miata’s and a few MR2 Spiders with last year’s event winner, David Marcus, trying to show that you don’t need a CR to win in this class!

STX is continues to be a highly contested class with 22 competitors and a large array of vehicles including a charging Danny Kao in his Scion Italian Chicken edition who is showing that he may be the guy to chase this year. 2013 STX Champion Jeff Hurst wants to show that his RX8 is still the car to have, while a host of other drivers in Mini’s, BMW’s, FRS’s and Type R’s want to show that there is no dominant car in this large and varied class.

The big horsepower and even bigger race tires of SSR, should prove to have razor thin margins of victory. In this class of 15 drivers, with one loan wolf Elise taking on 2 generations of Corvettes, you have a host of highly talented drivers. Grant Reeve and Sam Strano are both guys to watch and have proven they are fast in the 'vette. New comers from the world of Street Touring, Andrew Pallotta and Josh Luster are out to prove they can make the change to race rubber and still win. Pat Salerno and Brian Conner’s want to prove that the Elise can still get it done in this increasingly Corvette dominated class. The competition should be epic, so find a spot on a Jersey barrier and enjoy!

The index classes are awash with varied cars, classes and drivers. Mike “Junior” Johnson will once again be making music in the burnout box, along with some expensive smoke, in a C6 Z06 in SPA, but with changes this year, he will be up against far more powerful cars than the CSP Miata’s he faced last year. SPA is mash up of Super-Street Prepared, A-Street Prepared and B-Street Prepared. The PAX battle in SPB will also be interesting to watch as the cars have a wide variation in performance. The BMW of Eric Campbell is usually a good bet, but with this much variation in cars and classing, it will be exciting to see who emerges on top of a C-Street Prepared, D-Street Prepared, F-Street Prepared and SMF battle.

The absence of Erik Hyman and Godzilla will be missed at this ProSolo in SM competition. But, the newly built 240sx Panda V3 of PJ Corrales will be up against a host of boost buggies, so we will see how it does. SSM will also see some new cars, with Joe Brennan moving from CSP into SSM with his Miata. He will be up against Martin Valent in his Turbo MR2 and Jake Namer in one of the Twin Turbo Rx7’s. Will we see an all Mazda podium?

Ladies competition is deep at this event nearly 30 entries in the L classes and a few more ladies playing in the open classes. L1 is shaping up to be a good fight with C-Stock national champion Learic Cramer playing in SSR with her Porsche GT3. She’ll have a tough battle with SSR, SM and SP classes being well represented.
