Keep it Simple: That was the number one objective of the 2014 Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Series rules refresh. The changes for this year seek to simplify the points system, combine classes in better alignment with the categories and work from an index system designed to remove subjectivity. Here is a run down of the changes:

Points: To keep the series simple and easy to understand, ProSolo is once again a straight points fight. There are no zones, no bonus points and no regular season champions. Competitors will count the best two of their first four ProSolo starts before the Finale and Finale points will have a 50% increase in value. Simply, this means a regular season win will be worth 20 points and the Finale win will be worth 30.

Combined Classes: Class consolidation is done for two reasons. The first is to keep from having excessively large bump classes and the second is to have a manageable amount of classes feeding into the challenge. The method for doing this is linked to entry from the previous season where classes that are strong nationwide remain stand alone and less subscribed classes are combined. 2014 will see a much more strict following of Categories when combining classes, which will keep like cars competing against each other.

Index: The 2014 index is derived from a new system based strictly upon past event data. The system derived from the DAX index has been adjusted with 60ft data to become ProSolo specific. A benefit of the system is that, as data is collected, the system can be adjusted. As such, there is a scheduled update planned for June, just after the Spring Nationals ProSolo. All totaled, 2014 ProSolo will offer 28 classes, 23 open, 3 ladies and 2 juniors. Of these, 13 will be scored on index.

Street and Street R: The divide by drivetrain and compete on idex method will be used for both Street and Street R classes. The exceptions to these grouping are Super Street R (formerly Super Stock), B- Street and C-Street. The combined Street classes will be SA (Street AWD), SR (Street RWD) and SF (Street FWD) designations while Street R classes will be indicated by SRA, SRR and SRF lettering.

Street Touring: STF has been promoted out of the index classes for 2014. They join STC, STX, STR, STU and STS, all of which will be stand-alone this season.

Street Prepared and Street Modified: E-Street Prepared, Street Modified and Super-Street Modified will all be offered as stand-alone classes. In addition, there will be two combined classes. SPA will include Super-Street Prepared, A-Street Prepared and B-Street Prepared and SPB and will include C-Street Prepared, D-Street Prepared, F-Street Prepared and SMF.

Prepared, Modified and Karts: Kart-Mod will continue as a stand-alone class and there will be no changes for Junior Karts in 2014. There are no changes to the structure of the two R classes for 2014.

Ladies Classes: The L Classes returning to 3 groupings this year. Ladies 1 will be all classes utilizing R-compound and Race Tires, Ladies 2 will be all Street Touring and Ladies 3 will be all Street Classes. The order of the classes is intended to reflect a descending preparation and speed level.
