2013 Theme: Cone Royale

Event Chairs Brad and Jennifer Macxy have selected a James Bond theme for the 2013 Solo Nationals. Look for 007 themed goodies throughout the event, and don't be surprised if you see a few more tuxedos than you are used to. In keeping with the movies theme, there is also an effort being put together to screen a film during the week, though which feature is to be determined. It should be noted, while Connery accented "Nationals, Solo Nationals" are encouraged, it is asked that spy car inspired oiling of the courses and smoke screens be kept to an absolute minimum.

Cone Royale Showdown

Tapping into the Casino aspect of the 2013 theme, Nationals will feature a Showdown of 13 drivers (one for each card in a suit.)  The 13 will be compromises of 10 drivers who have been drawn after each heat on Wednesday, two "hard luck" drivers selected by the event organizers from submissions by the announcers and former Formula One and IndyCar driver, Eliseo Salazar. Drivers entering the drawing agree to pay a $50 entry fee should their name be drawn and work a normal work assignment during heats 2 or 3 on Thursday and Friday.  The 13 will draw card and run in suit order in a indexed competition for what we can only assume will be some of the most sought after 007 items of the week.

Test and Tune Course

Solo Nationals will once again feature the Karen Babb designed test and tune course at the north end of the site.  The course will open on Friday, August 30th-Wednesday, September 4th. The cost of the course is $45 for 4 runs, all of which are taken within an hour time slot.  Competitors are allowed to sign up for as many hour sessions as they like, but you may not double register for the same hour.  Course work is not required.  For more information or to sign up, visit the MotorsportsReg event information page.

Evolution Nationals Test and Tune, Presented by BFGoodrich

Sessions are two hours each, split between a work and a drive sessions.  During your hour of drive there will only be 12 students on the course with instructors on hand to help with set up, technique or just to give you feedback on your driving or car.  Cost is $55 for the two hour session.  For more information or to sign up go to www.evoschool.com.

Early Registration Deadline Approaching

August 9th is the close of early registration for Solo Nationals. Currently we have nearly 700 competitors signed up for the event with Street Touring X at 42 drivers and Street Touring R with 40 showing the way. After the early deadline is passed drivers may still register for Nationals but the fee goes from $165 to $308. As a reminder, you are not charged for your entry at time of registration, all competitors fees will be collected as we get closer to the event dates. To register go to SCCA.com/Solo
