– Tracy Lewis I am excited to be your 2012 Chief of Registration and Chief of Workers!  That being said, I am hoping to give Registration a little more of a “National Tour” feel.  Most, if not all of you have attended a National Tour in the last few years so you know what it is like to have your SCCA card and license in hand when you step up to the window of the infamous SCCA timing trailer.  You also know that you receive your work assignment at the same time you check in with one person sitting behind one computer.  Well, welcome to 2012 Solo Nationals Registration.  This year you won’t have to move from one person to another, you will be able to handle all of the necessities with one person, in one line.  I hope that makes you as excited as it makes me!  Now, I need to let you know how this will work.  You will need to be aware that there will be 4, (YES 4!) computers set up Saturday through Monday for Registration and each line will be clearly marked.  One line will be for TUESDAY EAST, one for TUESDAY WEST, one for THUSDAY/FRIDAY and one for CHANGES/VERIFICATIONS. Let’s address the obvious first.  Tuesday EAST/ Tuesday WEST computers; you will know by the time you register which course you run first- or you will be able to figure it out because there will be a sign outside of Registration.  You will need to make sure that you get in the correct line because if you don’t, you won’t be able to register at that computer and you will have to get back in the correct line and wait again.  Not because we are trying to be a pain, but because your registration will only be in one place and that is on the computer with the registrations for the course you run first. Next, if you run Thursday/Friday and you want to register Saturday through Monday, your registrations will all be on one computer until Tuesday morning and then they too will be split to Thursday EAST and Thursday WEST.  Again, once the computers are split, it is important that you go to the correct “course computer” so that your registration process goes quickly. Finally, there will be a computer that is set up for CHANGES/VERIFICATIONS.  This computer station will be one of the biggest changes.  This is for ANY changes that need to be made on site.  The goal is to be able to get changes made while you wait – including work assignments (if a change is necessary).  I would encourage you to make any changes that you know of ahead of time to save yourself time at Registration.  If you have changes, please feel free to email them to Deena Rowland (drowland@scca.com) at the National office and see will make sure they get passed along.  I will contact you to let you know that the change has been made.  I would also encourage everyone to make sure that you have your SCCA card in hand when you come to Register- that means renew early if you need to (or in some cases…just plain RENEW- I see several expired memberships in the registration file)or print out proof of renewal if you have not gotten your new card yet.  If you don’t have your card with you or have a print out of your membership proof, you will need to come to the VALIDATION line to have your membership validated. Now, WORKER CHECK-IN- this isn’t too much of a change from years past.   I just want to make everyone aware to verify where they need to check in for their work position.  We have changed some of the worker check in locations this year- for example,  Safety workers check in with the Chief to Safety at the back of Impound, Timing workers check in inside the Trailer with the Timing Captains, Impound workers check in at Impound with the Chief of Impound, etc.  All of this information will be clearly listed in your information book that you receive at registration, please be sure to verify where your worker check-in will be. I look forward to seeing all of you in a few weeks!
