The 2012 DC ProSolo is the kick off point for a season long program to to help raise money for an autocross family in need.  Their daughter, Chelsea, has an extremely rare combination of conditions that require her to have surgery in Germany later this spring.  To help the family raise money, autocrossers from across the country are banding together and pledging their support.  The program, dubbed "Racing for Chelsea" is a contingency donation program.  Drivers who make an initial donation to United Behind Chelsea will receive a "Contingency Donor" sticker that indicates that, should they win money at a National Series Event, a portion will also be donated. While there is no minimum percentage that can be donated, the goal of the program is to be able to generate larger sums of money for Chelsea that individuals normally would.  By doing this, Heyward Wagner, Communications Manager for the National Solo Series hopes the program can generate thousands of dollars per event, rather than a few hundred in donations.  "Contingency and prize money are definitely a help to anyone's Solo budget, but when a member of the solo community has need on this level, I am hopeful that we can pass some of that money on."  Wagner added, "If we are able to get half of the class winners to pledge 50% of their winnings, we can easily break the $2000 mark here in DC."  ProSolos have a guaranteed pay out of nearly $2000 dollars in qualification and prize money along with a contingency program that extends beyond the $5000 mark at most events. Contingency donors are asked to use the donation function on the United Behind Chelsea website and include a note indication the event and finishing position the donation represents.  Stickers for the Program are being provided by Mike Snyder of SSC Graphics and Tint.
