[caption id="attachment_335" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Christine Berry"][/caption] Christine Berry backed up her 2010 ProSolo Overall Ladies Championship with a dominant performance in El Toro.  For the second year in a row, Berry took the Ladies 2 win, and won the Ladies Challenge.  Ladies 1 winner, Leslie Cohen, spoiled the perfect weekend for Berry by claiming the Ladies Top Qualifier position. Over the last four years, only Ryan Buetzer and Bryan Heitkotter have claimed C-Stock National Championships, three to Buetzer and the most recent to Heikotter.  The pair once again faced off in El Toro, with the upper hand going to Buetzer driving a Pontiac Solstice.  Heikotter noted that the MX-5 he was driving had substantial off-season development and admits he was not as sharp in the car as he would have liked.  Regardless, the pair would have finished 1st and 3rd in Super Stock. The Bonus Challenge provided the feel good story of the weekend, with first time autocrosser Guillermo Clark advancing through 3 rounds to take the win. [caption id="attachment_336" align="alignright" width="199" caption="Guillermo Clark"][/caption] In the process, Clark bettered his best times of the weekend by over a second and a half.  Even more impressive, Clark made it though the entire weekend, totaling 18 runs, without a redlight and just two cones. With defending National Jeff Wong moving to STX there was a brief void in the west coast Street Touring scene.  That void has been resoundingly filled by Jonathan Lugod.  Lugod took wins at both the San Diego Tour and the El Toro Pro. In addition to driving a 1991 Civic, believed to be up to 50lbs heavier than the favored 1989 cars, Lugod is also running the Koni SPSS shocks, which have been passed up in favor of higher dollar offerings from Moton and Koni by many of the top ST competitors. [caption id="attachment_337" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Paul Brown"][/caption] Meredith and Paul Brown have retired their E-Stock MR2 in favor of an A-Stock Corvette.  Fair to assume Meredith had a bit of a challenge adjusting to the width of the Vette, as she had only one clean run going into her final pair.  The adjustment period was brief, as that final pair of runs moved her into the top spot, .4 ahead of Paul who finished 3rd.  Paul did indicate that this confirmed his status as “not a wife beater.” Last year, Toby Larsson and Aaron Goldsmith finished 2nd and 4th at Solo Nationals in their F-Prepared BMW 328.  That car has yet to make a 2011 appearance, as the duo have been campaigning a BSP Supra TT.  According to Larsson, the Supra is a stand-in while the BMW’s off-season work is completed.  It is expected that the BMW will return to Nationals this year to face defending FP champ John Thomas, and perhaps a new entry from Texas.
