At this year's National Convention, SCCA President and CEO Jeff Dahnert announced that the Club would be getting a new website.  If I had to pick a single word to describe my vision for the Solo aspects of the new SCCA website, it would be ‘simple.’  The site needs to be simple to navigate, simple for the staff to operate and update and it simply put, it needs to work.  Not only does it need to work as a stand-alone site, it will need to work within a communications plan designed to bring the most current content directly to you, rather than depending on you to find it. The first part of this plan is to utilize social media to keep those who want to be up to date, up to date.  Simply, like SoloMatters on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter and you will be alerted of new content, deadlines, event registration openings and results postings.  As these are social media outlets, there will also be occasional status updates, quick news from events and photos. For those who would rather receive periodic updates and news or who don’t keep up with Facebook religiously, SoloMatters will serve as a digest of all the content as well as the launch point for feature articles and major announcements.  In the future I hope to bring you articles ranging from how-tos and best practices to historical pieces to member profiles. Whether we are talking about Facebook, Twitter or SoloMatters, the goal is to have the vast majority of content located on the SCCA site with links provided so that you are taken directly to the content you are looking for with a single click.  In the meantime, we are dropping the Blogger site that has been used in the past and moving things to this wordpress site. Once we have simple nailed, I would like to add ‘cool,’ ‘neat-o,’ and a Duncan favorite, ‘wiz-bang,’ but for now, the focus is on providing a complete communications program that gives provides members with the information needed, and staff with the means to deliver it... and perhaps finding a good proofreader.
