Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport 3961 East Airport Drive Oscoda MI 48750

Event: Oscoda ProSolo, June 17- 19 Entry Cap: 230 Surface: Concrete

There is no better place to autocross, come the dog days of summer, than Oscoda Michigan. Situated on the shores of Lake Huron, Oscoda offers mild temperatures and cool breezes while the rest of the nation seems consumed by heat and humidity. Should the temperature rise, the lake offers a constant and immediate opportunity for refreshment. The site is a retired air force base providing ample amounts of concrete for course designer Alex Jones to lay out a couple of challenging courses and for event chair Marcus Meredith to fry a whole bunch of catfish and maybe the best hush puppies to ever grace a solo site. This is a fantastic event to bring the whole family, rent a cabin on the lake and enjoy the area. In fact, the Detroit and Saginaw Regions are hosting a two-day event the weekend following the Pro in case you need the excuse. Locals recommend Wiltse’s Brew and Family Restaurant for after event dining and relaxation, that is, if you don’t mind missing the beach volleyball game. Where to Stay: Mai Tiki Resort 3322 North US Highway 23 Oscoda MI 48750 (989) 739 9971 Where to Eat: Wiltse’s Brew and Family Restaurant 5606 County Highway F41 Oscoda, MI 48750 (989) 739-2231 Bottom Line: If there were not an event in Oscoda in the middle of June, it will still be a great place to plan a trip. The fact that there is an event is just a little extra motivation.
