#TBT Heartland Park Got Heart

Heartland Park Topeka (HPT) was home to both the SCCA National Championship Runoffs and Tire Rack Solo National Championship from 2006 through 2008. Following the departure of the National Championship events, competition continued at HPT, but maintenance and care of the venue fell off as the recession limited motorsports participation.

The road course closed in 2014 as the track experienced some turbulent financial times. But in the spring of 2016, the venue was purchased and Solo events resumed on the skid pad.  However, the old road circuit had seen better days and the decision was made to undergo a full repaving process.  That work is indeed underway and competition on the new surface is scheduled to begin again in the spring of 2017.

It is somewhat rare to see a racetrack reopen, especially when costly repairs are required. We look forward to seeing this facility, which played a major role in SCCA activities for several years, return to regular use.
