SCCA Announces 2014 RallyCross National Championship Registration Procedures

TOPEKA, Kan. (April 9, 2014) – The SCCA RallyCross Board has approved changes to the registration process for the 2014 RallyCross National Championships, scheduled Oct. 3-5, at I-80 Speedway.

Entries for this year’s event will be capped at 125. This number will accommodate a 20-percent growth from the actual number of entries from 2013. This is a change from years past, where no cap on the number of entries was imposed.

“The RallyCross Board believes there are three key reasons for making these changes,” RallyCross Board Chairman Steve Hyatt said. “First, the entry cap allows us to make sure the National Championship provides a positive experience for competitors. RallyCross continues to be the fastest-growing program in SCCA and we want to be prepared for the challenges that come with that growth.

“Under our current two-day championship event format, we simply cannot accommodate many hundreds of entries due to the durability of our dirt racing surfaces. An entry limit will help make sure we can provide an appropriate number of runs for competitors.”

Changes to registration have been made to streamline the process of getting registered for the large event. Early registration will run from June 1 until Aug. 31. The registration fee during this time will be $115, a $25 discount from the regular entry fee.

Additionally, from June 1-15, registration will be open to past RallyCross National Champions, past RallyCross TripleCross recipients and 2013 RallyCross Divisional Champions. These drivers will also have priority when registering car numbers. General registration opens on June 16 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“Promoting early registration helps build excitement for the event as other drivers see who they’ll be competing against,” Hyatt said. “Early registration also makes it much easier for organizers to plan and operate the event.”

Regular registration for all competitors will run from Sept. 1-Oct.1, and will be $140. Drivers can register through MotorsportReg.com. Registration fees will be due, in full, at the time of registration. Refunds will be provided for cancellations received by Oct. 1. Competitors that sign up after the 125 entry limit is reached will be added to a waiting list. Fees for these entrants will not be collected until they are officially added to the event.
