Runoffs Report – September 22, 2021

Greetings from cold and rainy Indianapolis Motor Speedway! The Speedway staff assures us that we’re getting the crummy weather out of the way today so that when teams and volunteers begin arriving on Friday everything will be beautiful.

Video Driver’s Meeting

Since holding a driver’s meeting for 875 people is impractical, Race Director Ken Patterson and ARD Steve Pence have recorded it. Please take 12 minutes to watch this as there are some specific things you’ll need to know about racing at IMS. The video is linked on the Runoffs event page under “Drivers/Teams” or available directly here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djYyWP4VDAY

Things to know today:

  • Starting in June, IMS Concession stands have gone cashless.
  • Pit vehicles (golf carts, pit carts, scooters, etc.) are not permitted in Pagoda Plaza (the area behind the Pagoda). You may park just outside, but will need to walk in.
  • When you come to the Registration/Credential trailer (across 16th Street from the Gate 2 entrance), please make sure you have your membership card. Everyone will need to sign an IMS waiver in addition to the SCCA waiver. Those that have proof of an annual waiver or completed the SCCA Runoffs Speedwaiver will only need to sign the IMS waiver.

In a garage? Here’s the unloading process:

If you are in a Trackside or Gasoline Alley garage, the parking team will direct you to a parking space for your trailer. Trailers are not allowed in the garage area. We will have a couple utility golf carts with trailers to borrow, should you need them in order to move your tools and equipment to your garage. Each garage is allotted one large (approximately 80x15) parking space. If you have multiple trailers that will not fit in your parking space, there will be overflow trailer parking in the North 40/Lot 7 area.
