About me:

I got into motorsports somewhere around 2002 when some friends started talking about drag racing. I decided to start looking for a sporty car and found a 1984 Mazda RX-7. This car never saw track time with me, but I moved on to a 1988 RX-7 soon after, which was better sorted and more road worthy. I never did drag race, but quickly found I was more interested in road course racing.I started doing HPDE and open lapping days with a group of good friends forming Trackaddicts.net. Later, some of us discovered 24 Hours of Lemons and pulled together a team. I found an excellent (rusty) 1986 Toyota Supra Celica I purchased from my neighbor and we striped it down, installed a cage and went on to not only participate, but we won our very first Lemons race!Eventually, I bought my 2000 Mazda MX-5 and was ready for more competition than open lapping, but couldn’t afford proper wheel to wheel racing on road courses. That’s when I discovered SCCA Autocross. I installed a hitch, bought a second set of wheels and comp tires, built a little trailer from Harbor Freight and started running as many Autocrosses I could find within a couple hundred miles. From there, I caught wind there was another affordable SCCA program very similar to Autocross--Rallycross. I took my daily driver 1997 Ford Escort to my first event and although the car didn’t seem to like it (kept cutting out around the corners for fear of death or something) I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had just changed jobs and needed a car with better cargo capacity, so I bought the only sensible solution: Station Wagon. 1997 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Wagon. This car was ideal for daily hauling of copier parts and tools during the week and then unloading, throw some snow tires and tools in the back and romp in the dirt on the weekends.I moved through a couple other Subarus over the years, always running in Stock AWD class. This year, I decided I wanted to try something different. Something RWD. Which led me to purchasing another Miata. Put a hardtop on it and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this goes.
