    For those wondering about the surface at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds, here are my first 3 laps from last month's rallycross:

    Another way to describe the surface as Ridgecrest is that is a course sand texture, very similar in size to the cereal GrapeNuts.  Ridgecrest packs well with a little bit of moisture, but low spots quickly fill with water it there is enough rain.  Which it doesn't stick to your car or act like regular dirt, ie, creating mud.  Also the site is large enough for good speed potential for higher horsepower cars.

    This video is from a 2015 rx with the rain just starting, by the time the next run group started it was standing water in all the low spots.
