Everyone had reason to celebrate during the Jan. 17, 2026, RallyCross and Solo awards presentation at the SCCA® National Convention – an event where members came to Level Up (event theme!) their Club knowledge while also recognizing significant achievements in the sport.
Each year, the RallyCross® Board (RXB) and Solo® Events Board (SEB) gather at the Club’s National Convention to celebrate accomplishments that move the sport forward. The honors span everything from impressive driving performances and season-long success to outstanding Regional and Divisional programs, with awards reflecting both 2025 results and long-term dedication.
Who leveled up in RallyCross and Solo in 2025?
RallyCross Awards
True Grit Award
While already presented during the 2025 RallyCross National Championship event in Alabama, RallyCross Board chair Gonzalo “Gonzo” San Miguel took time to once again present the award.
The True Grit Award is presented for an outstanding effort in either competing in or organizing the RallyCross National Championships. Whether it is overcoming adversity to compete or being an official whose effort made the event better for all, the award winner will have shown a dedication to RallyCross Championships.
Past recipients include Warren Elliott, Hal Denham, Jon Oleschewski, Rick Myers, Leon Drake, and Tom Harrington.
The 2025 True Grit Award was presented to Ohio Valley Region member ZB Lorenc, an honor he earned during the 2025 National Championship event when, after his car failed before the event began, Lorenc chose to stick around and volunteer in several support roles and as a coach for drivers.
Dirty Cup
Presented annually to recognize an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the sport of SCCA RallyCross, this award recognizes contributions over time, made as a competitor, organizer, worker, administrator, or similar. The winner's contribution shall have had a positive impact on the program nationwide.
The 2025 Dirty Cup was presented to Kansas City Region’s Mark Macoubrie.
Macoubrie’s accomplishments on the RallyCross course are well documented, with his earning three RallyCross National Championships through the years, along with clinching the TripleCross award in 2017. Despite that, it was arguably his contributions with data that earned him this award.
“In 2015, he started collecting detailed National Championship data to get writers and competitors a way to see what occurred during each run of the event,” San Miguel said. “Over the years, this eventually accumulated into a near 500-page document covering every National Championship. This file was released last year, free to download, with more statistics than you could ever want. Also in 2015, he became a Safety Steward, that he continues to do today.
“He served on the National Championship Planning Committee from 2015-2017 before joining the RXB in 2016 and serving until 2022. He has also served his local Region in different capacities over many years. while on the RXB, he created a database to help everybody better understand RallyCross at all levels.”
Spark Plug Award
Recognizing an outstanding effort in promoting and publicizing SCCA RallyCross using multimedia to further the recognition and growth of RallyCross, this award can be earned by an individual, a Region, or an entire Division.
The 2025 Spark Plug Award was presented to San Francisco Region’s Devon Winrick.
“Having competed in RallyCross and rally events, Devon saw a big challenge in timing and scoring, with sites struggling with different components and the timing software itself. This was time-consuming and often frustrating, causing delays during the race,” San Miguel said. “Devon and his team, using their computer genius, decided to undertake rewriting the script to assemble a reliable setup – a one-stop shop with integrated software and hardware at a very affordable cost.
“They went one step further to get the software talking to most popular timing hardware systems for those wishing to use it. Sideways Data was born, and with it came simplicity and ease of use, including options as QR code event management and event queuing, with capacity to expand to remote starts and cone counting. All of this can now be done with one handheld tablet.”
RallyCross Rookie of the Year
The RallyCross Rookie of the Year honor recognizes an outstanding performance at their first RallyCross National Championship. Whether they won their class, collected trophy hardware, or simply wowed the crowd, the RallyCross Rookie of the Year certainly turned heads at their first RallyCross National Championship event.
The 2025 RallyCross Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Atlanta Region’s Davis Faver.
“Davis finished second in Mod Rear in his ’85 RX-7,” San Miguel said, adding, “Beside his finishing position, he’s the kind of person this sport looks for. Word is that he built his car out of a junkyard in just two weeks, so anything’s possible. He lent his car out after a competitor broke and helped another competitor with their car when there was a problem.”
Divisional and Regional RallyCross Achievement
For their efforts in the promotion, growth, and awareness of RallyCross, the following are recognized as leaders in SCCA's Regions and Divisions:
- Regional RallyCross Achievement: San Diego Region; Tracy Ketch, Nima Ibrahim, Lexie Kennedy, Jasper Macdonald, Martin Coghill, Nathan Gibbs, Tiff & Ben Protas, Vincent Chan, Bret Norgard, Briana Angel, Hank Yamfang, Alex Molloy, Brian Michael Covellone, Brandon Kilgore, Connor Angus, Dan Wilcox, and Sanjay Singh (Divisional Steward)
- Divisional RallyCross Achievement: Great Lakes Division; Ed Trudeau, Divisional Steward
Solo Awards
Solo Rookie of the Year
Recognizing an outstanding performance at their first Tire Rack SCCA Solo® National Championships, the winner of the Solo Rookie of the Year award will have far exceeded everyone’s expectations at the prior year’s National Championship event based on their limited competition experience.
The 2025 Solo Rookie of the Year is Central Florida Region’s Trent Ksionek, who won B Modified by 0.937sec in his Solo Nationals debut.
“I feel very honored to have won the 2025 Rookie of the Year,” Ksionek said during the presentation. I would not have had the chance to receive this award if it wasn’t for seeing all of my friends compete and succeed at the 2024 Solo Nationals event. I came into the 2025 Solo Nationals not knowing what to expect, and just looking forward to having a good time.”
Solo Driver of the Year
The Solo Driver of the Year will have demonstrated exceptional skill or overcome major obstacles to produce an outstanding performance at the prior year’s Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships. The winner is selected by the Solo Events Board from nominations submitted by the membership at large.
The 2025 Solo Driver of the Year is Tennessee Valley Region member and 2025 CAM-S winner at the 2025 Solo Nats Josh Peek.
“To even be considered for this award, let alone to win it on my first trip to Nats is just an incredible honor,” Peek said. “It definitely couldn’t have happened without my significant support system between my girlfriend Jaime and all of my local TVR crew. I tried to take everything I’ve learned from all of them over the years this year, and put a strong effort into a National run.
“It’ll be really difficult to match my first trip to Nats.”
