Alice Cooper knew it: speed and sound come alive Under My Wheels. The Tire Rack SCCA® Solo® National Championships performance Sept. 1-5, 2025, in Nebraska’s capital city of Lincoln has plenty of wheels, speed, and sound. That’s why this year’s rock ‘n’ roll themed event has, well, rocked!
It’s a cool and breezy Friday on the 100 acres of cement at Lincoln Airpark, but The Heat is On as a second set of participants take one last shot at setting best times to earn National Championships. The eventual winners will be lauded later this evening in the Tire Rack Event Center (TREC) VIP Backstage Tent to close out festivities.
This is the 52nd running of Solo Nats. Lincoln has been home to the event since 2009, but the gathering of Solo all-stars has been conducted at multiple venues over the years. No surprise, the activity has developed quite a history, with some interesting stats unveiled below.
Chart Topping Solo Statistics
Like Casey Kasem (or Ryan Seacrest, depending on your generation), we’re counting down the hits from Tire Rack Solo Nationals.
For this first one, we’re going to a time when a man made famous by Hollywood was president. All the leaves were brown, and the skies were gray for some across the country who were left California Dreamin’. The year was 1984, and the San Francisco Region brought home 16 National Championships from Solo Nationals – still a record. That’s part of the 2,702 (and counting) National championship trophies handed out over 52 years.
Speaking of hits, one artist has strung together more consecutive number one hits than any other. Nicole Wong entered 2025 riding an active streak of 13 chart toppers and just this week added another, in Super Street Ladies, for a record 14 in a row. The highest-ranking man on the list is Jeff Kiesel, who had 12 chart toppers in a row from 2006 to 2017, is currently on another five-hit streak.
But a true hit comes down to more than just a singer, there’s a whole team behind the platform. The best producer at Solo Nationals is Chevrolet, collecting 371 wins over the years. The highest ranking model? The Corvette, with 241. Second on the list is Mazda with 338, and the darling MX-5/Miata with 200.
The Randy Pobst farewell tour has brought a number of new titles along with the old hits, but one that he still owns is ‘most years between two wins.’ He took the top of the G Street charts in 1986, then waited all the way until 2018 for another in F Street Prepared. Wonder where he was in between?
But the most successful crossover artist of all time is undoubtedly Patty Tunnell. The dark-haired Colorado superstar has 15 chart topping tunes. They’ve come in an incredible 11 different classes.
Following to the Final Note
The Final Countdown is well underway toward completion of runs on the two featured stages that make up the courses at this year’s Nats. So don’t miss a moment of what remains of this year’s concert.
