Relive the 2024 SCCA National Convention, Now On Demand

It doesn’t matter whether you attended the virtual 2024 SCCA® National Convention or not, it was close to impossible to see it all. Between Jan. 18 and Jan. 26, there were 67 sessions adding up to 668 hours of streaming National Convention goodness for the 1,021 registered members to learn from – so even if you did buckle down and watch it as it happened, chances are good you don’t remember it all. But fret not, because those sessions are now online for Club members to view on demand.

Most of those 2024 SCCA National Convention sessions are now located on the SCCA Member Account Portal (MAP), found by going to my.scca.com, logging in, then clicking the “My Learning” tab followed by “Member Content” and “National Convention.” Once there, choosing the “SCCA Grow 2024 – Growing our Club” link will present you with nearly the entire 2024 SCCA National Convention. Find the category you’re looking for (Member & Region Services, General Membership, Programs, Marketing, etc.), click the playlist button at the top right, and you can select any of the sessions that took place under that category. Or, select the “All Sessions” playlist and you’ll have access to 58 on-demand sessions (note: the Office Hours sessions are not available on demand).

Success, Measured

The 2024 SCCA National Convention was likely the most attended convention the Club has hosted in its 80-year history – and that’s no small feat. Last year, the bar was set high with nearly 900 members registering for the 2023 event; this year, that number was eclipsed by well over 100. But not only was the National Convention up on attendees, community was through the roof.

The virtual National Convention is hosted through a platform called Whova, with the Whova web and desktop apps offering plenty of opportunities for attendee interaction. We were impressed in 2023 when there were 1,844 community board messages, but this year, that number shot into the stratosphere with 4,967 messages. Likewise, private messages between members were up by more than 25%, and shared photos jumped by more than 70%.

Like with many online events, Whova encourages interaction, with points going to those achieving specific goals. This year’s point winner was Rachel McLaughlin, who scored an insurmountable 725,900 points. Second place went to Chris Perry with 378,300 points, followed by Glenn Long in third with 311,600 points.

If you missed the 2024 National Convention completely and are looking to view the sessions based on most attended during the live broadcast, the three to watch first are:

1. 2024 Annual Meeting – 211 attendees
2. Road Racing Program Direction – 196 attendees
3. Flagtronics – 182 attendees

Prizes in a Closet

SCCA has a Prize Closet filled with tons of goodies, with trips to that closet adding sugar to already sweet deals for members. For instance, SCCA hands out prizes to select workers at the National Championship Runoffs® each year simply for being there – it’s like winning the lottery, but where you get to pick the prize from a list of awesome SCCA partners like Hawk, Summit Racing Equipment, KONI, Sunoco, Tige Boats, EBC Brakes, RaceKeeper, and more.

The SCCA Prize Closet tradition was kept up at this year’s SCCA National Convention when Utah Region’s Rachel Faith and Cincinnati Region’s Ben Tyler received the golden tickets. Faith selected a free entry to a Tire Rack SCCA Track Night in America® Driven by Tire Rack event, and Tyler chose a free year of membership to the Sports Car Club of America.

Back for More in 2025

The SCCA National Convention will return in 2025, keeping the virtual format that has proven so popular. Dates have yet to be locked in, but plan on a mid to late January event, with the convention once again kicking off with the Road Racing Awards, Annual Meeting, and SCCA Hall of Fame & Awards Presentation.
