SCCA Pro Welcomes Motorsport Veteran Brian Till to Stewarding Staff

Brian Till named Steward of the Meet for F4 U.S. and F3 Americas championships

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 18, 2019)- SCCA Pro Racing has named Brian Till as Steward of the Meet for the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda and F3 Americas Championship Powered by Honda upcoming season. Till’s primary focus for 2019 will be working with Race Director Scott Goodyear on developing F4 U.S. Championship drivers on and off the track in effort to create more green flag racing.

“I am extremely excited to be a part of the great team that Sydney Davis Yagel at SCCA Pro Racing has assembled for the 2019 F4 U.S. Championship and the F3 Americas Championship,” said Till. “There will be so much experience in the SCCA trailer for the drivers to take advantage of and pull from. We have the unique opportunity to not only watch some great young talent compete, but also the responsibility of helping that talent better learn how to become championship caliber drivers both on the track and off."

Till started his motorsport career as a junior in college, competing in Sports Car Club of America competition in the Southwest Division. He went on to win the 1990 Formula Atlantic championship and make more than 20 open-wheel starts in his four-year CART career, including the 1994 Indianapolis 500 where he finished 12th.

"SCCA and especially SCCA Pro Racing is a coming home of sorts.  My first professional race was at the Runoffs in 1985 in Sports Renault when I was in my first season of car racing,” Till said. “I can still remember the excitement of all of that.  The opportunity to now be a part of young drivers' introductions into professional road racing is not only exciting, but it comes with the very real responsibility of making certain that we start them off on their careers on the right path."

Over the two last decades, Till has served as an expert motorsport color commentator for sports car and open-wheel racing, broadcasting more than 400 motorsports’ events. Till’s experience behind the wheel provided insights and observations from his driving career, which he successfully relayed over the mic to fans and competitors. He spent time both as an anchor and pit reporter for FOX Sports, NBC, ABC, CBS, ESPN, TNT, TNN and SPEED networks, covering series like Trans-Am, the SCCA Runoffs, Formula Atlantic, IndyCar, FIA Formula 1 World Championship, IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship, Koni Challenge, Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, IMSA Prototype Challenge, Rolex Sports Car Series, Tudor United Sportscar Championship, SCCA World Challenge, ASA, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (formerly NCWTS) among others.

In 2015, Till was introduced to stewarding by Blacpain GT World Challenge America as the Driver Steward.

"The last four years of looking at motorsports competition from a different angle has been extremely rewarding, enjoyable, and yes, at times, frustrating," Till continued.

The F3 Americas season kicks off April 3-5 at Barber Motorsports Park with the IndyCar Series and the F4 U.S. Championship debuts April 18-20 alongside F3 and Formula Race Promotions. For more information on the championships visit, F3Americas.com and F4USChampionship.com.
