LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 5, 2016) – Ain't no party like a Solo Nats party ‘cuz a Solo Nats party don't stop. But the shindig did get underway Monday night with a welcome party launching the Tire Rack Solo Nationals, presented by Garmin VIRB, being conducted through Friday at Lincoln Airpark in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Sponsored by the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau, and presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, the welcome party is notorious for delicious tacos. How can you tell they’re delicious? The mounds of taco fixings practically overflowing from plates is a pretty good clue. Then again, you can just ask anyone in the packed “Big Fun Tent” as to the quality of the grub.
“This has been the best of the three meals I’ve had,” said Laney Blume who is a member of the Wichita Region. “These tacos had lots of flavor and I need to find out where to go find this food in town so I can have more while I’m here this week.”
Of course, what makes the annual welcome party fun, too, is the chance to get together with friends that perhaps are only seen once a year, a sentiment shared by Greg Shumaker who comes from the Central Florida Region.
“This definitely adds to the week,” Shumaker said. “Hanging out with some friends and watching some entertainment, what’s not to like?”
The entertainment of which Shumaker referenced comes from the talent show held each year during the evening. David Marcus, from the Florida Region, said “talent” is a loosely defined term for what happens up on stage.
“Sometimes the talent can be better than you’d ever think. And sometimes it can be pretty bad,” Marcus said. “But I skipped Solo Nationals one year and I regretted missing all this. I’ll never skip it again. It’s the best week of the year.”
