Champions Celebrate at SCCA Western Conference Finale

Portland, Oregon. (July 3, 2016) – A light mist greeted racers on the morning of the final round of the SCCA Western Conference Majors Tour on Sunday. After two days of dry weather and sunny skies, rain began falling on the west end of Portland International Raceway’s 1.97-mile road course as racing got underway.

Big bore was first on track today, as Will Hunholz took the GT-1 and overall victory in the No. 18 Speedtrixx Motorsports Porsche GT3 Cup.  Ken Muth drove the No. 14 Eat Fish Nissan 240SX to the GT-2 win, and Collin Jackson won the GT-3 race in the No. 53 BM&M Screening Solutions Nissan 240SX. Kevin Smith drove his No. 03 Stacey and Holly Smith Pontiac Firebird to the American Sedan win, and Pratt Cole took Touring 1 honors in the No. 8 Western Metals Transport Ford Mustang FR500S.

Spec Racer Ford and Spec Racer Ford 3 raced as rain continued to fall. John Black won the day in the No. 17 CSR Performance Spec Racer Ford 3. Todd Harris switched to SRF today to finish his Runoffs qualification, winning the class in the No. 05 Pro Drive Racing/Flat Out Spec Racer Ford.

The small-bore production cars of EP, FP, HP, GT-L, and T3 raced under drying conditions, and Aaron Downey made it two-for-two with an E Production win in the No. 5 roundpeg.com/MAZDASPEED Mazda RX-3. Michael Parks won F Production in the No. 66 Huffaker Engineering MG Midget, and Jason Isley repeated his win in H Production in the No. 99 TRD/Hoosier/RACER.com Toyota Yaris. In GT-Lite, Lans Stout won again in his No. 6 Loyning’s Engine Service Nissan Sentra, and Lansing Stout, Jr. won his second T3 race of the weekend in his No. 96 Nismo/Hoosier/Up-Rev Engineering Nissan 350Z.

Guy Dreier led the Group 6 field and the T2 class to his second victory of the weekend in the No. 13 Guy Dreier Racing Ford Mustang GT, while Scotty B. White again took the win in T4 driving the No. 0 Got CDL?/BFGoodrich Ford Mustang V6. In the STL class, David Vodden once again claimed the top step, winning in his No. 33 Terry Taylor Enterprises Mazda Miata. Kyle Keenan took the B-Spec win and the Western Conference B-Spec championship in his No. 44 Team KBR/Hoosier Kia Rio.
