Tire Rack SCCA Iron City Match Tour Moves to Grenada, Mississippi

TOPEKA, Kan. (April 13, 2016) – The 2016 Tire Rack SCCA Iron City Match Tour, originally scheduled for the parking lots of the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium near Birmingham, Alabama, has been relocated to the Grenada Municipal Airport in Grenada, Mississippi. The event dates remain June 17-19, and will be known as the Tire Rack Crossroads Showdown.

The event moves four hours west to a site that has been used for Regional events, but it’s appearance on the Tire Rack National Tour schedule predates the use of "National Solo" as a familiar term. The event will utilize the concrete surface available at the airport.

"We recently got word that local officials were no longer allowing any motorsports activities at the Birmingham site," Howard Duncan, SCCA Sr. Director of Rally and Solo, said. "We’ve worked with the local Regions to secure this site, which was used years ago – even before I was in the National Office! We’re happy to unlock another site to use, and stay in the southeast corridor for this event."
