Date Change for DC Champ Tour Solo Event

TOPEKA, Kan. (April 5, 2016) – For some, the good news is iconic rock band Guns N' Roses is touring the U.S. this summer. The bad news, the band has scheduled a June 26 performance at FedExField outside of Washington, D.C., which clashes with the 2016 Tire Rack Washington, D.C. Championship Tour previously scheduled June 24-26 at the setting in Landover, Maryland.

As a result, a new date for the 2016 Tire Rack Washington, D.C. Championship Tour has been chosen. The Solo event will now take place June 17-19 at FedExField.

Howard Duncan, SCCA Senior Director of Solo and Rally, said various sites used for SCCA Solo also serve as locations for major concerts. Contracts agreed upon with these locations traditionally include a clause allowing properties to “bump” an SCCA parking lot activity if a major musical extravaganza is booked and added to a venue’s event calendar.

“We have been lucky for several years in that we haven’t had to face this situation,” Duncan said. “After considering various options with the Region and the National Solo Field Staff, we have opted to move the event up one weekend.  We believe this will result in as little disruption as possible for competitors.”

More information and a revised schedule for the event can be found online at the 2016 Tire Rack Washington, D.C. Championship Tour webpage.
