Heat One featured some big fields, big names and big completion at the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championship Presented by Garmin VIRB. In F Street, 46 drivers took to the rain-soaked East Course for the opening runs of the week. Among those drivers was Brian Heitkotter, who was the pre-competition favorite to walk away with the class title. Instead, Matt Ales leads the field with Heitkotter 0.755-second arears. Ales’ co-driver, Michael Yanase, would have been in second if not for a cone on his final run.
Tamra Hunt leads C Street Prepared Ladies by 1.124 seconds after competing in her Mazda Miata on only three occasions. In Street Modified FWD Ladies, Kristell Janusz leads Ginette Jordan by 1.092 seconds; however Jinx, Ginette’s husband, says the car should be good to make up the approximately one-second deficit on the west course.
