TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 2, 2010) - The Sports Car Club of America was saddened today to learn of the passing of one of its First Gear members, 18-year-old Dakota Donovan, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Donovan died Wednesday after sustaining a gunshot wound during an accidental shooting at a home in Plantation, Fla. On the track, Donovan had recently completed his first SCCA National Championship Runoffs, qualifying third and running in the top four of his Spec Racer Ford class until his engine expired with three laps remaining in the race. Its always sad to hear about the passing of a member, but especially so when its a member who is as young as Dakota, Jeff Dahnert, SCCA President/CEO, said.
