The top level of the Sports Car Club of America€™s Club Racing program will visit Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Jennings, Ok., April 2-3, for Round Two of the six-round 2011 BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour. The event, hosted by the Ark Valley Race Group, is part of the annual Green Country Grand Prix held each racing season. What should SCCA members and fans be watching for this weekend? On Sunday, Carey will wave the checkered flag at the conclusion of the Group 2 race, and present trophies to race winners in Victory Circle. National Champs Throughout The Event: National Champion drivers are spread throughout the entry list for this weekend€™s BFGoodrich Tires Midwest Super Tour race. E Production tops the charts, with six SCCA Runoffs National Championships split between two drivers. Jesse Prather, from Topeka, Kan., won three National Championships from 2006-2008 (the last in E Production, the prior two in F Production), while Justin Pritchard is a three-time champion (Formula Continental, Formula F). Prather is driving the No. 80 Jesse Prather Motorsports/Ron Davis Motorsports MG B this weekend, while Pritchard is coming from Granville, Ohio, to drive the No. 17 Carriage & Motor Works/Hoosier Tire Mazda RX-7. The GT-Lite class actually ties E Production in the number of National Championships, thanks to the six titles won in the G Production class by Kent Prather. Prather, of Wakarusa, Kan., is the father of Jesse Prather and will drive the No. 26 Prather Racing/Mazda/Moss Motors Mazda Miata at Hallett. Rick Harris, of Derby, Kan., is the 2008 F Production National Champion and will compete at his home track in the No. 8 JPM/Goodyear/Red Line Oil/Hawk/V8 Roadsters Mazda Miata. Inaugural Super Tour Winners Return: Four winners from the inaugural BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour event at Texas World Speedway are on the entry list for Round Two at Hallett. E Production winner Austin Snader, from Brookshire, Texas, will drive the No. 64 Snader Racing/MAZDASPEED/Rotary Innovations Mazda RX-8 at Hallett. C.J. McAbee, from Topeka, Kan., was the Formula 500 race winner and returns in his AJ€™s Import Garage KBS Cyclone. Sports 2000 Round One winner Jack Donnellan, from Chickasha, Ok., returns in the No. 6 Kechi Energy/Quantam Mechanics Lola 598, as does David Koller, from The Woodlands, Texas, in his Touring 1 No. 82 Over Fifty Racing Chevrolet Corvette. Boomer Sooner: A host of drivers from Oklahoma are participating this weekend, including a handful of drivers from nearby Tulsa. F Production€™s Randy Wagner (No. 86 Mazda Miata) and Formula Vee€™s Neil Cox (No. 8 Rally Distributing Protoform P3) are from Tulsa, while John Saucier (No. 31 Mazda/SKM/Red Line Oil Mazda 3) is making the tow from the capitol city for the Showroom Stock C race. Donnellan, in Sports 2000, and Richard Allen (No. 81 Nissan 350Z) in GT-3 are two competitors from Chickasha. Competitors in the event are coming from across the Midwest and beyond, including as far away as Ohio and Wisconsin. Fun For The Family: Fans are welcome for the event at Hallet Motor Racing Circuit, where admission is $10, with children 12 and under free. The gates open for spectators at 8 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Admission includes a free program and a paddock pass allowing spectators into the garage areas for up close visits with the cars and drivers. Hallett Motor Racing Cirucut is located in Jennings, Oklahoma, 35 miles west of Tulsa just off the Cimarron Turnpike at Highway 99. Spectators are welcome to view the pre-race practice and qualifying starting at 8 a.m. each day, as well as getting up close and personal to victory circle at the conclusion of each race. Ordinary People, Extraordinary Feats: The racers at this weekend€™s BFGoodrich Tires Midwest Super Tour are a unique mix of talented drivers. Most are €œweekend warriors,€ mixing it up on the track on the weekends before heading home to their day-to-day jobs through the week. Some are youngsters with an eye on a professional driving career, honing their craft while looking to the future. The common theme to an SCCA competition is that these are seemingly ordinary people doing extraordinary things with racecars. How prolific can these drivers become? Start with the motorsports legends €“ Bobby Rahal, Mark Donohue, Roger Penske, Michael Andretti, and actor/driver Paul Newman got their start in SCCA Club Racing. More recently, you could have seen current stars Boris Said, Graham Rahal, Sam Hornish or Scott Sharp at a Club race. The Best In Amateur Racing: SCCA Club Racing is the top level of amateur motorsports. Of the 300 Club Racing events held coast-to-coast, 70 of them are designated as €œNational€ events, meaning they are qualifying events for the National Championship Runoffs® and comprise the SafeRacer SCCA National Racing Series. Of these 70 events, only six were designated as BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour races, bringing the National spotlight to town and making this event among a select group of can€™t-miss events across the country. At Hallett, the racing weekend consists of a Regional race on Saturday, followed by Sunday€™s BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour races. Points for the BFGoodrich Super Tour will only be earned for Sunday€™s races, however.
