Qualifying Finished At Hallett BFGoodrich Super Tour

(April 3, 2011) €“ Each of the five groups of SCCA Safe Racer National Series classes have completed morning qualifying sessions at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in preparation for this afternoon€™s Round 2 of the BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour. Justin Pritchard, a three-time National Champion in Formula Cars from Granville, Ohio, led Group 2 with a fast time of 1:24.497 (76.689 mph) in the No. 17 Mazda RX-7. David Koller led T1 with a best time of 1:25.732 (75.584 mph) in the No. 82 Chevrolet Corvette, with Robert Herman leading GT-3 a best time of 1:26.665 (74.771 mph) in the No. 00 Mazda RX-7. Hans Peter, from Olathe, Kan., topped the Group 3 qualifying for the €œwings and things€ groups, posting a fast time of 1:08.543 (94.539 mph) in his Formula Atlantic No. 66 Swift 016. Peter posted the fasted qualifying lap of the day around the 1.8-mile permanent road course. Tom Bootz will start on pole in DSR, and third overall in Group 3, after a best time of 1:13.521 (88.138 mph) in the No. 36 Stohr WF-1. Darrell Mease (No. 20 Star Mazda, 1:17.146/83.997 mph), Marshall Mauney (No. 64 Formula Enterprises, 1:18.247/82.815 mph), Jack Donnellan (No. 6 Lola 59B Sports 2000, 1:19.581/81.426 mph), and Jason Hickey (No. 32 Mazda Sport Racer CSR, 1:23.139/77.942 mph) all are on their respective class poles in the group. Group 4 was topped by Jim Wheeler, from Lenexa, Kan., who posted a best time of 1:25.597 (75.704 mph) in the No. 20 Pontiac Trans-Am. Matt Reynolds topped Spec Miata with a best time of 1:30.373 (71.703 mph), second overall in the group, with John Saucier leading Showroom Stock C in the No. 31 Mazda3 with a fast time of 1:35.121 (68.124 mph). Rick Harris, from Derby, Kan., topped Group 5 in his No. 8 F Production Mazda Miata after posting a time of 1:24.509 (76.678 mph) at his home track. Kent Prather, driving the No. 26 Mazda Miata in GT-Lite, posted the best time in that class with a 1:25.604 (75.697 mph), landing him third overall. Chris Albin topped H Production with a best time of 1:30.077 (71.938 mph) in the No. 3 VW Golf. Brian Laughlin led STU in his No. 5 Mazda Miata after a best time of 1:30.192 (71.847 mph). Cliff Johnson, of Kansas City, Mo., topped Formula F and Group 6 overall with a best time of 1:19.562 (81.446 mph) in the No. 4 Piper DF-5. Second on the grid was the fastest Formula 500 machine, the No. 15 KBS Cyclone piloted by C.J. McAbbee. McAbee€™s fast time was a 1:21.298 (79.707 mph) during the 20-minute session. Bill Johnson led Formula Vee with a fast time of 1:28.146 (73.514 mph) in the No. 42 Vortech VW. Group 1 this weekend is made up of ITR, ITS, ITA, ITB, ITC, ITE and IT7 regional classes. This afternoon€™s BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour races will be 25 laps in length. The BFGoodrich Tires Midwest Super Tour is part of the Green Country Grand Prix Regional/National weekend held at the 1.8-mile Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. The event is hosted by the Ark Valley Race Group, a joint effort by the NEOkla, Oklahoma, and Wichita Regions of the SCCA. Each group will race in a 25-lap race this afternoon.
