Toyo Proxes RA1 Required For Spec Miata At 2011 Runoffs

TOPEKA, Kan. (August 10, 2011) - In a racing memo released today, the Club Racing Board has approved the exclusive use of the Toyo Tires Proxes RA1 in Spec Miata at the 2011 SCCA National Championship Runoffs, Sept. 19-25 at Road America. For most of the 2011 season, the class has been allowed to also run the Toyo Tires Proxes R888, after the earthquake and ensuing tsunami in Japan disrupted production and resulted in limited availability of the Proxes RA1. However, quantities of the Proxes RA1 are now widely available, and the Proxes R888 will not be eligible for Spec Miata at the Runoffs. Toyo has also named Phil’s Tire Service, from Cragsmoor, N.Y., the official dealer and service provider for this year’s Runoffs. Representatives will be on site throughout the event to provide service or sell tires to Spec Miata participants. Except for the Runoffs, use of both the Proxes RA1 and the Proxes R888 will continue for the remainder of other 2011 SCCA National Club Racing events in Spec Miata.
