Paul Newman GT-1 Corvette Headed To Auction

The late Paul Newman’s last race car, a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette GT-1/Trans-Am machine, is being auctioned by RM Auctions on Saturday, March 10.

Newman, a four-time SCCA National Champion and Oscar winner, passed away in September, 2008. He raced this Corvette from 2003 to 2007 in GT-1. The car was originally built by Riley & Scott for Tom Gloy and the 2002 Trans-Am season. Butch Leitzinger drove it in 2002, scoring five poles, three wins, eight top-five finishes and nine top-10 finishes, running as yellow #88 with Tommy Bahama sponsorship. Newman and Brockman bought the Corvette in 2003 and immediately painted it red, white and blue.

More information on the auction is available here, on the RM Auctions website.
