TOPEKA, Kan. (June 1, 2012) – SCCA is proud to announce that the upcoming Club Racing races at Pueblo Motorsports Park and High Plains Raceway in the Rocky Mountain Division will hear Kurt Hansen’s award-winning motorsports commentary over the PA system and in victory circle.
The national Award Winning host of Race Central Radio on Mile High Sports Radio AM 1510 and FM 93.7 Denver (A Yahoo Sports National Affiliate) and Race Central TV nationally on MavTV (Dish Network Channel 361), Hansen will be on hand for the Invitational-only double National Race at Pueblo, June 16-17, and the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour race at High Plains Raceway, June 30- July 1.
“We are excited about the energy and passion that Kurt will bring to both events,” SCCA VP Marketing & Communications Eric Prill said. “Not only is he a seasoned professional broadcaster, but he has a real background in SCCA, both in broadcasting and racing.”
Both events are part of elevated programs in the SCCA Safe Racer National Club Racing Series. The new Majors program is a pilot in the Southwest, Rocky Mountain and Midwest Divisions in 2012, providing unique and special opportunities for Club Racers, especially those in the 10 “invitational” classes represented at Pueblo. Spec Miata, Super Touring® Under, Formula Vee®, Formula 500, E Production, F Production, H Production, Formula F, Formula Mazda and Spec Racer® Ford are the featured classes invited to the Pueblo event.
The BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour is an expanded nationwide program that brings the feel of the SCCA National Championship Runoffs® to one National race in each division. All 29 National classes are eligible to compete in the High Plains Race.
“To be asked to anchor these fantastic events, especially in my home state, is a real honor,” Hansen said. “The only thing that would be up-stage it is if I would be competing in my Formula Atlantic Swift DB-4!”
A former racer himself, Hansen has appeared in motorsports programming aired on ESPN2, SPEED, and the Outdoor Channel.
