SCCA Unveils First 2013 Majors, BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour Event At Sebring

TOPEKA, Kan. (November 7, 2012) – The Sports Car Club of America announced today the first and earliest piece of the 2013 U.S. Majors Tour, which will begin in the Eastern Conference with the Central Florida Region’s double race weekend at Sebring International Raceway, January 4-6. The Sebring event will also be the opener on the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour schedule.

The doubleheader will be the first of a planned six-event schedule for the Eastern Conference. Each of the four conferences will include up to six event weekends.

“The Sebring weekend is just the first event of the Majors schedule that will make up the 2013 season,” Butch Kummer, Director of Club Racing, said. “Our staff is working diligently with the Regions with the goal of a complete schedule launch during the PRI show in December. Because this is the first event on the schedule and a destination trip for so many racers, we wanted to announce this as soon as we could to give the maximum time for racers to make plans to attend the event.”

The BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour schedule will also be announced with the completed Majors schedule. The races will overlap, linking at least one event from each conference into the nationwide tour for the third-consecutive season.

The Sebring races will count toward the Eastern Conference point Championship for all 28 SCCA National Championship Runoffs-eligible classes, as well as the National and Divisional points titles, as announced previously.
