Testing Availability Set For 2014 SCCA Runoffs At Mazda Raceway

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 6, 2014) – Drivers looking for testing opportunities before the official start of the 2014 SCCA National Championship Runoffs®, October 7-12, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will have a handful of chances leading up to the race.

Monday, October 6 marks the official event test day, open to Runoffs entrants. At a cost of $300, the current target is five to six run groups with two 30-minute sessions each during the day, though the schedule will be altered based on subscription levels. On the official test day, sound levels will be run to the specs required for each specific class during qualifying week. Registration for this test day will be a selectable option with the event registration when it opens July 23rd.

San Francisco Region is offering two additional opportunities - Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28. The dates are limited to 50 cars per day, with open-wheel cars on Saturday and closed-wheel cars on Sunday. Cost is $1,000 per day with an open track format from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch break. Sound for both days will be limited to 103 db, as per the Club’s GCR. Participants will get readings on their sound levels to help ensure compliance during the Runoffs . Registration will open on July 1, 2014, on MotorsportReg.com for the San Francisco Region program. Drivers entering either of these test days will be able to leave their rigs on property at MRLS, but outside the official paddock areas until the Runoffs official parking begins on October 4th.

Competitors can also participate in a Regional race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in advance of the Runoffs. A doubleheader weekend, hosted by San Francisco Region, is on the calendar for September 12-14.

The first trip to the West Coast for the Runoffs in 46 years will feature the traditional three days of racing (Friday, Oct. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 12), preceded by three days of qualifying (Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Thursday, Oct. 9).
