SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. (July 31, 2014) – The SCCA Eastern Conference U.S. Majors Tour, for 2014, will come to an end this weekend. With 12 of the 14 races in the history books, the doubleheader event will be the deciding factor in some championship battles, while other class winners have already been decided needing only for the final two rounds to pass.

In America Sedan, Amy Aquilante has the opportunity to get past Tom Ellis (not entered) for the top spot as she sits 20 markers behind…Chris Dryden is the current E Production point leader, but he and second place David Smith are not expected to attend this weekend’s race. That opens the door for Joe Kelly to claim the championship with a pair of strong finishes…Gaston Kearby tops Formula Atlantic with 148 points, but can add a maximum of 23 points to his previous eight finishes, replacing an 11th and fourth. Son Conner has more flexibility if he falters, with a 10th and a ninth place finish to replace. Chris Fahan can increase his total to 150 with a pair of wins, but needs bad luck from both members of the Kearby family to steal the title away…Formula 1000 will be decided on the track this weekend at Summit Point. Alex Mayer and Alistair McEwan are separated by 11 points, with both replacing low finishes of a fifth and a sixth. A maximum of 19 points are available for each driver … Chuck Moran has clinched Formula Continental going into the event, and is running solely for race wins this weekend with points no longer part of the equation …In Formula Enterprises, Paul Schneider sits one marker behind point leader Brandon Kennedy (not entered) and has the opportunity to take the Conference title home from Summit Point. He’ll need to replace a second place finish, however, and needs a win in one of the two days to take the crown…Jason Generotti appears to have his Conference Championship in Formula F wrapped, with only Ross Devoe (not entered) mathematically eligible…As the only Formula Mazda on the entry list, Stuart Rettie is poised to complete his Conference Championship season…Jonathan Weisheit is in control of the Formual Vee Conference title and can add one more finish to his 136 point total before dropping a fifth-place finish on day two. If he falters, Stevan Davis (108 points) and Roger Siebenaler (92 points) both have an opportunity to claim the championship. Weisheit clinches the title with a win on either day, or any combination of 23 points through the weekend… Kyle Disque sits eleven points back of Peter Shadowen in GT-Lite, with two races left to count. Shadowen is not currently entered, opening the door for Disque to claim the title with a single ninth-place finish… Doug Piner has the opportunity to leapfrog class leader Richard Colburn (not entered) in Prototype 2, trailing by only four points… Spec Racer Ford brings a variety of scenarios, based on the pre-event entry list. Mark Vultaggio (117 points) and Bruce Myers (115 points) are separated by two points in the standings, but Vultaggio can only replace a pair of eighth place finishes. Myers can replace two finishes outside of the top 20, and has many more points available. Robert Reed (109 points) has two open point-scoring positions available, and has been a contender in each of the last four Eastern Conference rounds. Jeff Lehner (80 points) is still mathematically alive from ninth place, and has two open races to score… The season-long Touring 1 battle between Joe Aquilante and Preston Calvert leaves them separated by one point going into the final weekend, with the advantage to Aquilante. Aquilante can drop a pair of third-place finishes to improve, while Calvert has a third and a second that he must improve on…In Touring 2, Calvert needs a pair of wins to move around the not-entered Andrew Longe. Just one second place finish eliminates Calvert…Rob Hines is in the Touring 3 driver’s seat with 87 points, as none of the three positions ahead of him are entered, including leader Marc Feinstein (106 points). Kevin Boehm (64 points) has an outside shot at the title…Christopher Collins has an opportunity to win the Touring 4 title if he can make up the 34 points bhind James Place (not entered).
