Majors Tour Series Registration Opens Today

TOPEKA, Kan. (October 15, 2014) – Series registration for the 2015 U.S. Majors Tour, providing benefits to drivers including a reserved numbers, opened today.

As with the 2014 season, drivers can reserve their number for each event in a particular Majors Conference by registering with the series. Numbers will be held up until three weeks prior to the event. The $50 registration fee also includes a revamped express tech line, express registration (where available) and a $25 gift certificate to Majors or SCCA merchandise in 2015. Registered drivers will also receive a commemorative Series hard card, and have the option of adding a name board or banner.

A $100 option allows a driver to register a single three-digit number, beginning with 1, reserved for all five 2015 Conferences.

“The 2014 Majors Tour registration was a success, but we learned a lot from our first year to provide even more impact,” Terry Ozment, SCCA Vice President, Club Racing, said. “We have a system in place that will provide an express tech line and express registration at most events for 2015.

“Realizing this has opened just after the Runoffs, we will need a method of payment at the time of registration, but will not charge credit cards until after January 1, 2015.”

From now until November 15, 2014, drivers can reserve an all-Conference three-digit number or a one or two-digit number for a single conference in one class. Those who reserved a 2014 number and attended at least two Majors events this season will have those numbers held for renewal for two weeks, until October 29. Drivers who have a reserved number from the 2014 Eastern Conference will be able to choose either the Northeast or the Southeast Conference. Beginning on November 15, drivers may reserve a number in a second Conference for an additional $25. As in 2014, the 2015 reserved numbers will not apply to the SCCA National Championship Runoffs.

Numbers will be reserved based on standard run groups, following the preferred seven run group format. Reserved numbers will be held for drivers up until three weeks prior to each individual event, at which point any driver can register for the event with any available number. Any driver who runs two Majors events in 2015 will earn first right of refusal for the same number again in 2016.

Reserved does not necessarily mean permanent. If class run groups for an event are different than the traditional seven run groups, conflicts will be resolved by the in-conference driver who registered for the event first.

Series registration is not required to participate in the U.S. Majors Tour in 2015.

Critical Dates for 2015 Majors Registration: - Oct. 15, 2014 – Registration opens for 3-digit all Conference or 1 or 2 digit single Conference registrations. - Oct. 29, 2014 – 2014 numbers held for renewal are released to the general pool. - Nov. 15, 2014 – Drivers may reserve additional Conferences in same class. - Dec. 1, 2014 – All drivers registered by this point are entered into a drawing for one premium item per Conference. - Jan. 1, 2015 – Credit cards will not be charged until after this date.
